if playing softcore, in my opinion you can add the very first 5-10 points into vita depending on your gear, but more is not really helpful.
usually, if you have good gear you can easily go int all the way, but putting some points into vita might protect you from critical hits
e.g. if you will most likely suffer more hits due to bad gear.
as a mage, int is the thing that is most important.
one the one hand, it increases your damage ( and resistance from hostile magic attacks )and your growing mana pool allows you to cast more often.
this pool can be used in 2 ways:
for offensive casts, killing the enemy as fast as possibly so he does not have the possibility to attack you
( since you will always suffer low physical defence and lower life then other chars )
for defensive casts, talking of the use of healing charms to restore your low life pool during combats.
with your int rates, you additionally support your healing rates and with a decent healing charm it just takes 2-3 casts to restore your life totally again.
so use the offensive charm in main slot, the healing charm in acc position. this makes you much more independent.
it is much more effective to use the int rates for these both variants, than being bound to only some max life.
this way you have the choice how to use it depending on the case, but both cases are supported with int.
