on whey
on fish oil
on zma
orange triad
scifit kre-alkalyn
now dextrose
supp. direct(store brand) bcaa

is this a good stack? anything missing? maybe caffeine and/or beta-alanine for pre w.o.?

im 18 i've never lifted weights seriously til recently. i also do boxing, jiu-jitsu, thai boxing, and wrestling at least once or twice each a week so my workload is heavy. im looking to gain functional muscle, not get big and bulky. im in the army and about to ship out pretty soon, so i can't be taking anything that will hurt me after withdrawal and ofc nothing that will cause me to pop hot on a urinalysis.

id also like advice on my workout

a.
bench press
squats
pull-ups

b.
deadlift
lunges
military press

mon-a
wed-b
fri-a

all followed by tabatas on treadmill/airdyne

thanks

Good stack...maybe missing glutamine for PWO and before bed. Also vitamin C (this particular antioxidant you need around 4g per day for proper anabolism and immune response)

Pre workouts are ENTIRELY optional and have no impact on gains whatsoever.

Your particular routine is good for PURELY functional strength and military PT specifications....the only addition I would recommend is some pushups to keep yourself prepared for that. Chest strength means nothing when it comes to pushup endurance. I've seen very strong powerlifters who are very lean unable to crank out more than 40-50 pushups without stopping.

Yo I'm 20 yrs old male 6'5" 270lbs
How many calories do I burn sleeping approximately 7 hours

This is VERY hard to approximate. The reason is because during sleep, your calories burned are marginal compared to when you are awake. On a given 24 hr period, assuming you are mildly active (exercise 2x per week), you are looking at around 2,700 cals per day from just basic functioning (assuming you aren't sitting in a chair all day).

Approximately 2,800 cals a day then, averaged out over the course of the week.

I really recommend doing the hypertrophy plan....which focuses mostly on breakdowns/failures/overloads

Hypertrophy with at home gym equipment

pick the one that suits you the best.

I really prefer to alternate between 5x5 (or even 3x5) for 12 weeks and then do hypertrophy for another 12 weeks...the results I see from that are much better than anything else.

I recommend you give it a shot...if you want something different, let me know. =)

Hey, I've been going the gym now for 7 weeks and following lots of advice and tips from this thread and my progress is going great and I just wanted to know, firstly I still have my belly and man boobs and was thinking of starting the 5x5 plan for gaining some size and strength would this be ideal if I still wish to loose my belly ect I would still be doing the cardio or 20-30mins of HIIT after each workout and maybe on one of my off days do just cardio, if I did do the 5x5 how much rest should I have in between sets.

Or should I just continue with what I'm currently doing untill I get more weight/bodyfat off and then start the 5x5 when I'm slimmer and just build back up with lean mass.

Many Thanks for any help.

5x5 generally isnt good for fat loss, however it also isn't bad. You can follow up with 30 mins HIIT post-workout, and first thing in the morning on non-workout days.

As far as rest between sets...usually 1-2 minutes.

You can begin the 5x5 now and see how you do on it. Remember most of your fat loss at this point is from diet - the exercise is very helpful, but the style of how you lift shouldn't matter THAT much....as long as there is a caloric deficit....which is the problem with 5x5, as it usually is better suited for a surplus. However you can give it a shot.

As long as calories and macros are in check, yes.
