first 7:30 mile since high school lmao

I rented a bike and tested it out

conclusion: rental bike isn't that much faster, but a little faster, lol. What was interesting is the times both there and back are very similar

I hit them up, turns out, it is user data! Haha, ik, like...I'm fast on my bike but didn't realize top 10% fast. Percents are based on speed over that distance

Well shit. That explains why I havent seen that shit since I switched to android a little over a year ago.
I'd probably be drowning in top 10s and 25s.

Thank you!!!! This was very helpful. I know I can finish, the only thing that I've never practiced is the transition. I 100% need to swim laps in the ocean, run to my bike, ride 10 miles and then run 2. Just to get a feel for it.

My goal is to finish in under 2 hours, giving myself breathing room, I reckon I'll bike in 50-60 minutes, run the 5k in ~30 mins, and honestly don't have a clue how long .33 miles will take in the water, maybe 15-18 minutes? Call it an extra 5 minutes of transition, I think I'm good to make my goal!

Try transitioning from bike to run a couple times. It feels really uncomfortable imo. Could try to get used to that

Really slow bike out (v windy) and then I ran into this crazy good biker and he and I were pacing eachother! So fun

And here are the splits, 20 mph average over 5 miles:

that 22 mph split though! He said he was amazed at how fast I was going given that my bike weighs almost 3x his and is a complete piece of shit haha

There was a trail running 5k this morning so I said fuck it and signed up. Really really slow time with 8:50 pace but whatever, it was actually really easy to keep that (slow of a) pace haha

But I digress! Triathlon in 6 days, I really really need to get in the water, I've only swam once.

SO! The triathlon is tomorrow, I've had flu like symptoms the last 3 days, terrible sore throat (not strept), body aches, runny nose, cough, the works. Every day since Tuesday I've been getting a little better and today I'm still sick, but feeling much much better.

The gun goes off at 6:30 am tomorrow and my wave (29 and under) goes first. I haven't really swam fuck all but I think with the wet suit buoyancy, shallow water, and as my man in the thread earlier pointed out, shear will, will get me through this.

Again: My goal is 1 hour 30 minutes (long shot) but as long as I finish in 2 hours or less, I'm happy.

The bike is my strong suit, I'll do the bike portion in 45-52 minutes. The run is my down fall, I'll run the 5k in 27-35 minutes. Who knows about the swim, as long as I finish in ~15 minutes, I'm chilling.

Factor in 10 minutes for transitions (hopefully more like 5) I'm set

50 min bike, 30 min run, 15 min swim, 10 min transition, looking like I'm on track for a 1 hour 45 minute sprint triathlon.

Again, here are the distances on their website:

Swim Course (Sprint distance = .33 miles)

Bike Course (Sprint distance = 13.4 miles)

Run Course (Sprint distance = 3.4 miles)

The nerves are going to get to me I'm sure, but once I'm 5 minutes into the bike and find my groove, I think I'll be set for a fun race!!

There's also a fun after party at the local brewery, $50 bucks entry gets you 2 drinks and a t shirt.

My schedule tomorrow is triathlon 5:30 am - 9:00 am.

After party 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Work: 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm

My schedule on Wednesday was work 9:00 am - 2:00 pm and then 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm
My schedule on Thursday was work 9:00 am - 1:00 pm and then 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm
My schedule today is work 9:00 am - 2:00 pm - rack my bike and get my bib at the triathlon - and then work 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Going into tomorrows race after 3 doubles and being sick as a dog isn't ideal conditions for your first triathlon, but I'm happy!!!

Wish me luck!!! (:
