Hey Raynor,

I've been having problems keeping my lower/mid back straight during Deadlifts. Although I am keeping my back tight, I feel that the slight rounded back is making the lockout a lot harder, leading to sometimes hitching when at RPE9+. My program allows me to incorporate one Deadlift variation and I was told Snatch grip Deadlifts would be a good option to strengthen my back and posterior chain, allowing me to keep my back straight, specially during the starting position. Would you say that is a good DL variation for someone having trouble keeping straight lower/mid back throughout the lift?

The best way to get your form in order is to do two things. First of all, lower the weight and focus on form. Go as heavy as you can WITH good form. Secondly, try incorporating Good Mornings and lower back hyperextensions in order to strengthen your lower back and thus improve your form and ability to do heavier deadlifts.

You also can try doing rack pulls if you feel the problem is more towards the top of the lift.

Recently I've been having some crazy sweaty arm pits.. only noticeable in the last month or so. Only change to my daily routine has been hitting the sauna post workout. Even started using extra strength antiperspirant deoderant, and still I'm getting the nice large sweat stains under my arms.

Any thoughts or ideas Ray?

This isn't unusual, nor is it necessarily bad. However, sometimes antiperspirant can have a paradoxical effect and encourage additional sweating. Try Jungleman deodorant or Herban Cowboy and see how those work out for you. Apply under each arm, then apply one spray of the cologne of your choice, let air dry and try that out by comparison.

Interestingly enough, to achieve the best overall health, including what shows in your bloodwork, you will need to master your overall diet, exercise routine, and supplementation, as well as modifying your daily life.

Some basic tips for overall health:

1. Drink plenty of water, at least 1-1.5 gals per day.
2. Keep your electrolytes as balanced as possible (1x sodium / 2x potassium / 1x calcium / 1x magnesium)
3. Try to eat as many whole foods as possible, while avoid processed foods.
4. Buy organic when possible, and make sure to eat meats/dairy that have no hormones/antibiotics/etc.
5. Get plenty of good fat in your diet (at least 60g of GOOD fat per day) from sources like olive oil, fish, avocados, etc.
6. Get at least 8 hours of sleep per night
7. Exercise at least 1 hour per day
8. Eliminate as much stress from your life as possible (breathing exercises and yoga can also help this)
9. Abstain from alcohol/tobacco products, as well as drugs (obviously).
10. Take supplements, such as Multivitamins, vitamin c, vitamin d-3, etc.

Hi, I hear lots of people telling me to get vitamins naturally via real food to avoid toxicity or something in supplements. cost/benefits in your opinion?

Hi Raynor,

I went to the gym and was doing my usual leg day. Then I found two guys wearing the exact same style as me: blue shirt, black shorts, red shoes. It was weird/funny so we talked for a bit and they joked that I should come and do this work out they were doing.

What it was was: leg press: 9 plates 12 reps. No rest. 6 plates 12 reps. (by this time i was giving it everything I got toward the 9th -10th rep). No rest. 2 plates (it was supposed to be 4 plates but they figure i'd be dead if I try that). I had to stop in the middle and re-finish the 12 reps. so it was like 7 reps. 3 second rest 5 reps. I was thinking to myself how in the world is 90 lb leg press so impossible right now?

This kicked my ass hard and never felt so depleted from a work out in my life. I could barely stand after the work out This was last Friday and now I am still kinda sore.

What are these magical drop sets? What do they do for you and when should you do them? Should I do them for every body part now (I'm cutting atm as per your recommendation) as it was the first time I really felt a burn an hour after finishing? Or is the efficiency overrated and you don't get much gain from them and just hurts a whole lot for no reason?

Thanks!

Tried 3 different clinical strength deodorants now and none have lessened the sweating. I have thought of 4 different changes I have applied to my life recently, but idk if any of them could have caused this increase in sweating..

1. Increased my workouts to 6 days a week
2. Switched to a new preworkout (Mr Hyde)
3. Back on ON Creatine
4. Wearing tighter shirts now that I've cut an additional 18 lbs in the last 2 months

Could it be from not drinking enough water daily?

Any ideas why I can't gain weight?
My diet and training schedule looks like this:

Breakfast: 3-4 eggs, sliced onion and tomato with 2 pieces of dark bread, whey protein gold standard (650kcal)
Lunch: Randomly somewhere out, usually thai/chinese food and once or twice mcdonalds
Snacks: Nuts, fruits
Dinner: Rice and chicken (about 300-350g of chicken every night)
2 doses of whey protein gold (1300 kcal) one prework out and one post.

I hit the gym 3-4 times a week following the stronglifts schedule, muscles have become larger but my weight has not changed.

If I do the calorie counter I'm way over my metabolism and should be gaining weight like crazy

Tighter shirts will hug your armpits and make the sweat accumulate in that area more. I, too, sweat a shit ton and I just think my adrenal gland is in over drive. Try a looser fitting shirt. (Do your palms sweat?)

I saw a doctor and he said if you really want it to stop, after trying what you have tried, he recommended botox injections. FUCK. THAT. Sweat doesn't bother me that much, to be honest, it's a sign of manliness and chicks dig your smell.

An old endocrinologist once told me: "Modern times love to feminize men. Sweat is a manly trait."

You would have to eat a WHOLE lot of raw foods to come even remotely close. It's best to eat healthy, but also take supplements. Arguments stating that supplements cause any type of toxicity are baseless. If you take TOO Much of anything, it can, of course, cause toxicity. Follow dosing directions and you won't have any issues.

Welcome to the world of hypertrophy! This style of training is used to force the muscles to grow. However, you will NOT gain any significant amount of strength in doing so, mostly just muscular size/volume. Hypertrophy is used mostly after a long strength routine, such as 3x5 or 5x5 in order to enhance aesthetics.
