last week, i started getting a runny nose. then it got clogged. early this week my throat started hurting anytime i swallow. then a few days ago i started coughing (chest + throat hurts when i do). claratin d + mucinex dm aren't helping. i do gargle salt water and i drink a gallon of water a day. any suggestions on OTC meds? it's my nose that bothers me the most. i wake up suffocating when i can't breathe through my nose, or else i breathe through my mouth and it dries out at night and hurts my throat more.

probably unrelated, but i noticed yesterday when i shake my head, one of my teeth feels weird. like maybe it's wiggling. i was gonna go to the dentist and get it checked whenever i'm over my illness.

Most likely you either have an infection, or you are exposing yourself to serious allergens while your immune system is compromised. Either way, this will help a LOT.

Hi there, I know weekend just kicked in so I expect you to help me in a distant future. Im 5,7(yea.) / 140 pounds and id like to consult you on how to go about getting a bit leaner and slowly gain some mass with a workout plan and a diet pattern, as im fairly ignorant in the field of fitness and im unsure if what I want is feasible. I'm interested in strength on par with balance though. I would need a routine sample with some parameters that I can adjust.

I came upon your guide for bodyweight exercises and other compound movements and i thought about incorporating them to my workout . I acquired some gym rings and a pull-up bar to attach them to and I would like some guidance on how to use them effectively (push-ups, chin-ups, dips, things of that nature). Those two pieces of equipment are all that I currently have and I plan on getting some kettle bells or a weight vest later on to add some resistance as I go along with my progress. I would prefer doing full body instead of splits.

Im hesitant to get into a gym at the moment as I consider this to be my starting point. Again, i'm in no hurry to get ''big'' that's why I prefer choosing something thats interesting and motivating for me instead of going balls out and flush money into weights and benches or a gym sub that im unsure of sticking to. For dieting, I thought about intermittent fasting as it could easily fit my schedule.

Anyway, I think that covers it. Thanks alot btw for all you're doing here, hoping to get your thoughts and expertise on my situation. :)

Hey Raynor. My wife is looking for a little bit of help with some sort of meal plan. I told her that you helped me, so I told her I would ask for a little help for her. Here are some specifics:

She is 120 pounds, 22 years old, pretty inactive for the most part. Right now her diet consists of junk food all the time and the usual calzone/pizza. What would you recommend as a sample daily plan? She says that she feels extremely overwhelmed every time she tries to come up with some sort of meal plan.

/e

She is looking to slim down and lose her chub that she has. Personally I think she isn't bad but she is persistent. She has nearly no muscle mass so obviously working out would be good.

I don't really watch much UFC but these guys train hard to lose weight and obtain a certain weight number for their division.
I'v seen some vids where they wear like 10 sweatshirts one of top of the other while training to sweat more aka to lose more "weight"

why do they do this if all they lose is basically water weight? and it will be regain as soon as they drink water
I always wondered that lol

Hello there. First of all, you are going to have to make a few decisions. The most important one is: What are your long term goals? Do you want to be lean and muscular with a perfect physique? DO you want to be healthy, flexible, and have good body and core strength? Do you want to be a power lifter? A bodybuilder?? Just have overall good shape and platform?? I need some type of true long-term ideals other getting leaner and increasing mass.

Secondly, I need to know your current height/weight/bf% as well as any medical conditions you may have. Furthermore, if you'd like a diet plan, I need to know food allergies and/or foods you will not eat.

Thirdly, intermittent fasting shouldn't be an issue.

Here is a sample diet plan for IF:

http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=21269614&f=60&p=441835650
2,200 cals split into 3 meals for IF (Intermittent Fasting)

Secondly, here is the bodyweight exercise plan (I think you already saw this?)

Bodyweight exercises

Thirdly, for some interesting fat burning circuits with bodyweight exercises:

IF you can get her onto a set routine, this would be the one:

However, keto is even MORE effective, but a bit more difficult at first:

Because they lose the water weight PRIOR to a weigh in, basically dehydrating themselves in order to meet the requirements without losing lean mass.

edit:

They would effectively remain dehydrated until such time as they weigh in, and then gradually introduce regular water. Remember, after dehydrating, they usually sip DISTILLED water, which is devoid of minerals, and thus keeps the body free of storing water.

Just had a health screening at work but they didn't tell me anything other than the numbers.
I googled most of them and the charts show I'm doing fairly well but I want to know how to get the beyond "good/normal". I'd like to be in the ideal optimal range.

This was a fasting test 9 hours prior

Total cholesterol 161 mg/dl
Hdl 66 mg/dl
Tc/hdl ratio: 2.5
LDL 81
TRIG 73
Glucose 89
BMI 22 (5'11" 168 w:33in)
BP 126/66 (google says high systolic)
Pulse 48 (I also have a heart murmur from birth that has posed no problems)

Any advice on how to really achieve optimal numbers appreciated!

Extra info:
Breakfast (typical day): 3/4-1C oatmeal w honey and blended seeds/nuts/berries
Snacks: fruit of all kinds
Lunch: lentil salads, kale tabouli, grape leaves, butternut squash
Dinner: chicken, beef, rice veggies etc. Sweet potatos. Standard dinners.

The only "vices" in my diet are eating raisin bran 3 bowls at a time at night with 2% milk before bed and KIND or cliff bars throughout the day.

Ballpark water intake for the day 3000ml. I also drink black coffee about 1 cup a day which I would give up if someone told me I needed to. Replace with green tea perhaps.

Most likely you either have an infection, or you are exposing yourself to serious allergens while your immune system is compromised. Either way, this will help a LOT.

As far as OTC things goes, besides Sinucleanse or any other Sinus Rinse, you could use Afrin occasionally, which will immediately open the sinuses.
