Hey, started the 5x5 this past two weeks and feel great. Anyway, my dad and I made a bet, he losses 20 pounds and I gain 15 pounds in 3 months (12 weeks). I was wondering if its even possible for me to gain that much weight though, 136 to 151, about 2.5pds every 2 weeks? Also I'm having a hard time eating this 6,000 calorie diet, any suggestions to get it down? I'm hitting minimum 4,000 a day but I feel so full and bloated all the time? Thanks for all you've done so far, really got me motivated.
Also today I finished my chest workout and just feel like I didn't do enough. Haven't been very sore on chest days nor back days, or arm days for that matter, is this normal? Maybe I'm just over thinking it, but I just want to make sure when I go to the gym I'm getting a little soreness the day after to make it feel like I've done something right ha..?
Hey there.
Yes, you can gain that amount IF you are eating as much as you need to be. If the calories are a problem, use additional weight gainer shakes to fill the void. They go down a lot easier than whole food if you are having difficulty.
There used to be a product called Black Hole that was an excellent apatite enhancer....it no longer is being sold, however.
Lastly...you won't necessarily feel sore after 5x5 training. However, occasionally you will. The goal is to increase the weight each week by at least 5 lbs per exercise and continue with the same reps. If you keep that up, the theory is,
10 weeks = 50 lbs on any given exercise.
Therefore, 20 weeks should be 100 lbs gain on any given exercise....and so on.
The strength platform that 5x5 builds is extremely important for further growth when considering future workouts for aesthetics. The massive soreness you are lacking would come later on from hypertrophy training.
