Hey there

11. Supplements!! Everyone striving for overall health needs to be supplementing every day. Multivitamin (NOW! Adam), Stress-B (Twinlab), Vitamin D-3 5,000 iu (NOW!), Immune Advantage/Immune Renew (NOW!), Cranberry/Licorice extract (NOW!), Vitamin C 1,000mg (NOW!), Antioxidant Blend (NOW!), Joint Support (Universal Animal Flex), Chlorophyll (NOW!), EFA's (NOW! Super Omega 3-6-9), ZMA (NOW!), etc.

In conclusion - if you want to be healthy, lead a good lifestyle, keep a positive attitude, surround yourself with good people/good things, and take care to avoid putting anything questionable into your body. You will have optimal organ function, live longer, and be as disease free as possible (barring genetics related issues).

Awesome! Thanks for the quick response.
I have money to burn. Is there a complete list of *life* supplements to take?
Not only body building supps but ones that promote complete healthy living that would be required even on a healthy diet?

I am looking for two criteria only really: would like to stay away from the controversial supplements and wouldnt want to take supplements for things that I would get if I maintain a complete diet (which I do a pretty good job of imho).

Currently have:
Now Multi
Now Fish Oil
Now Vit D
Whey Protein
Now Creatine
Now Glutamine

In the mail:
Now ZMA
Now Super Antioxidant
Now Chlorophyll
Universal Nutrition Animal Flex (super excited for this with my chronic knee pain)
Stress-B (wondering if this is necessary. I didnt do a lot of reading up yet due to time but people take it to reduce anxiety and such... I just dont want anything to make me "numb" lol...)

Thats a good start. I could still add things like Boron for prostate health and such but I do not know how beneficial they truly or if the long term effects really exist for some of these products.

Should someone looking to have complete life long health add anything? Which would have dangers associated with them? Uses?

Thanks so much!

so i'm curious. why do people buy milk from a cow instead of milk from a human? considering that infants are fed human milk, i'm guessing that human milk is more nutritious. is it because it's cheaper to milk a cow than a human? or are women unable to produce milk except right after giving birth? or other factors?

Many facts.

Cows are livestock and thus can be kept in mass, producing mass quantities of milk. You can't enslave humans to produce milk. Plus there's the whole idea of it being from a human which would turn most people away. The list of reasoning can go on and on - but the bottom line is that cows are huge animals that provide a ton of milk at a relatively low price.

I don't exactly support the idea of drinking copious amounts of milk, mostly from the estrogen in milkfat, but in moderation it's not bad as long as you are drinking organic - which is free of added hormones/antibiotics.

Well heard in some parts of europe they make cheese from breast milk. Dont know why that grosses people out.. I mean you drink cow shit and get grossed out at a healthy milk MEANT for humans? lol

Good points Raynor... finally someone stands up for organic. I definitely believe it, and it indeed has not only less crap on it, but actually more nutritious imo, better quality soil... etc. and plants are only as nutritious as the soil!

And I also agree on the supplements.... too many people say supps are useless..... yea well people should learn what they are before saying its useless, but yea diet overall is most important.

I like your points... wish you were my GP, so many doctors today.... know nothing on nutrition and push more and more drugs.

Thanks.

Ps and Kudos for the GMO remark.... Finally someone agrees GMo is bad and should not be consumed... i have so many studies to show why its bad! Wish more people looked into these things

Thank you for the kind words.

Modern medicine is definitely very good for some things, but horribly flawed for others. I constantly get into arguments with other students in med school - mostly because they believe in treating symptoms of disease, vs the cause of the disease.

Hey there.

The multi to take, NOW! Adam, has a good blend of herbs and antioxidants that makes it very complete.

Stress B is just a very good B complex w/ vit C.

other supplements for life could include coq10 (NOW!) and Probiotics (NOW!Acidophilus & Bifidus AND American Health products brand!) - as far as other supplements go, that's really the only ones I can currently justify for long term use when regarding overall health and wellness.

None of these have ANY dangers associated with them, and you should have absolutely no side effects.

Hello -

if you are looking for general advice, please post in the regular H&F Section.

If you are looking for help from myself or 7ds ONLY, then you are posting in the right place.

When you say completely dairy free, that leaves you with egg protein, beef protein, and pea protein.

I personally recommend you start with egg protein and go from there.

I recommend this:

or this:

I've also heard good things about this:

Hi there. Sorry i should have mentioned I can't have egg protein either. You recommended me a beef protein awhile ago but that had dry dairy milk in it and the pea protein powder I used to take got discontinued. I bought some vegan stuff from a local health store but it had tons of sodium and only 3 amino acids. I having a really hard time finding a proper protein powder that I can eat. I can't take any dairy or eggs at all as that will make me very ill

Hello good sir.

I am going to start a workout regiment after my classes are done (<1 week) and was wondering if you can give any advice or links to informative pages that would help me.

My plan will be to try and go to the gym 2-3 times a week and try and watch what I eat. Currently I am 6'1'' and weigh about 210. My ideal range would be under 200, with 185 being a very long term goal. I know it will take a while to get to those goals, but I have all summer to do this and plan on continuing this for as long as I can.

I am not interested in becoming a beefcake, but rather sheering off some pounds with cardio and doing some strength training with weights. I have always maintained a sexy body, but I am approaching 220 rapidly and want to get an early start on some health and fitness now before it will be even harder.

I guess my bottom line is if you can give me any advice as to what to eat and what to do in the gym when I am working out I would greatly appreciate that. I have some basic knowledge and have been to the gym before but never had any expert advice. I appreciate your time and help.

PS: I am level 11 in Ladder Slasher with 6 or 7 items up on the market place. If I sell any of them, you bet your ass you can see some forum gold stroll your way.

Hello there! I'd be glad to help you.

Given what you've told me, you need approximately 3,000 calories a day on workout days, and around 2,200 cals on non-workout days.

3,000 calorie diet w/ 40/40/20 macros

2,200 cals split into 3 meals for IF

Given that you are limiting yourself to only 3 days a week, follow the cutting guide in here:

Hope that helps!

Hi raynor,
if I want to be a beast at marathon or even Iron Man, do you recommend weight lifting or only cardio.
Could you provide me a decent workout for this?
