Hey what are some good beginner ways to strengthen your neck? My wrestling coach tried to help me build mine up but all of the exercises he suggested were too intermediate for me to do with proper form I think, do you know any basic exercises? I've tried bridges but don't even think my neck is strong enough for that.l

Shrugs are the best thing you can do. It's a natural movement you are used to. Use dumbbells and/or a barbell. Go very slow and just make each movement like you are saying "I don't know" by shrugging your shoulders. At the same time, tilt your chin up and your head back. Hold the shrug at the top for 2 seconds and let it down for 1 seconds then back up for 1 seconds.

So yesterday i injured my elbow....It seems like a strange injury i was even surprised by it but im looking for advice on what it might be. I have made an appt to meet with my doctor next week but for the moment im baffled. Yesterday i was working out it was my first day back in the gym from spring break so i hit it hard with a full body workout. I did a warmup jog and stretched my legs HOWEVER FORGOT TO STRETCH MY ARMS. Then did 9 sets of chest (bench/ incline / decline) then hit my tri's with 3 sets of weighted dips. I did some tri extensions ect then did shoulders / squats and finished off with some pullups and deadlifts. When i got home several hours later i layed on my bed and reached for my light and noticed a slight discomfort in my elbow when i extended it fully. there is a quiet popping sound and a tiny bit of discomfort. Otherwise i feel nothing and wouldnt know that my elbow is injured. There is no sharp pain at all just discomfort. I am taking a mluti and omega 3. Also started taking MSM in hopes it would help my joint.

Edit the discomfort is in the back side of my elbow im assuming its the bursa becoming inflamed from over working? What are good ways to prevent this lol obviously stretching but what else? Im really hoping this injury isnt worse than what im thinking. I can tell something doesnt feel right when i fully extend my arm.... Not good.

That is not an issue. That can come and go with exercises which use a lot of strength and stabilization in the elbow. STRETCHING WILL NOT HELP THIS!!

The best things you can do are use elbow wraps or elbow sleeves, as well as make sure to tuck your arms close to the lats when bench pressing.

Yes...its called alternating hypertrophy and 5x5. Do 4 months of each alternating. So 4 months 5x5, then 4 months hypertrophy. This is the BEST way to do it.

Hypertrophy Plan 3-on-1-off (regular)

5x5 plan

How about 2 months alternating? Like 8 weeks strength, deload, 8 weeks hypertrophy, deload, etc.
Thanks

No Good. You have no ability to fully benefit from either with that kind of constant change. 4 months is optimal, and even 6 months is better. The body typically responds better when given a standard routine until results start to fail. At that point a change of routine is required.

You need about 10 days of no carb before you get into ketosis if your body is stubborn. Also there is a possibility that the keto strips you bought are defective or were exposed to air or expired.

Ketostix say they are good till late 2013, and I've used them before and they seemed to work, only exposed to air when I open the container. So I'll start going 2 weeks before my carb day. Apple cider vinegar is fine right?

I just had my body composition tested by a machine called Tanita Body Composition Analyzer TBF-300, you know anything about it in terms of its accuracy?

Also, can I do dumbbell chest press for strength training? or should I stick to barbell chestpress?

yes, ACV is good for keto. It's possible the keto sticks are bad, but proceed and see if they change after another 2 weeks.

it's OK - but like most other electronic devices for measuring body fat and composition, they are within a margin. Underwater fat testing is the most accurate method in my opinion.

You can definitely do dumbbell chest presses for strength training.

Hi Raynor,

so my sister came up to me (knowing that i'm the health freak of the household even though I don't actually know shit compared to a expert) and just broke down about how she thinks she's pregnant and I didn't know how to respond. I tend to come to you when I need quick medical advice and I want to put her mind at ease.

She told me her and her boyfriend did the deed once during her period and once right afterwards then took plan B because the condom broke. Then out the blue, she got her period again two weeks later. It lasted the normal amount of time, and was just as heavy.

a week after that (3 weeks later total), she's been having cramps randomly and CLAIMS she gets cravings for certain foods. What can I say to get her to shut the fuck up about this and what are the chances she's pregnant?

Thanks dude.
