It has been 1 year of using this method to silence the notifications.

I still think the idea would be a good implement to avoid this going forward.

Tools --> Tracker --> Tick the box of the relevant topic --> Edit Selected --> Untick "Push Notify"
Implies you're going to track it (because it's currently not in your tracked list if you don't track it upon creating it) , but unchecking "Receive push notifications" disables the notifications.
I wonder if the "How long" drop down options have any effect on NOT receiving notifications. I selected 1 week, we'll see.

Turns out my assumptions were correct about how this works.
Perm solution seems like a logical step to take.
