Just curious if I should be PMing people or just posting a reply to their thread with their listed items for sale?

Yeah, like to trade do you add reply to the thread or PM people generally?

First thing you need to do is see from when that topic is. In that topic last "bump" (post) from the seller was 9 days ago. He is also offline for 9 days and I would not expect a response anytime soon.

Pay attention to dates of topics - people who want to sell something regularly "bump" their topics and old topics are considered dead and should not be bumped. If you do want something from an old topic you can PM the seller and ask him if the item is still available.

Last post and Last seen in profile will help you identify if the user is online or not. You can't expect someone who was last seen a few hours ago to respond to you right away, same applies if you post in their topics while they are afk - they won't see it until they visit the site again.

If you want to buy something (like that Iratha set) your best bet is to make an ISO topic and let other users offer it to you, the will be online and ready to trade.

In general - to answer your original question - you post in the topic if you want to buy something, if the topic is new or bumped regularly. Trading can also be done with PM but I suggest you avoid it, most scams occur when someone PM's you...

I wouldn't try to initiate a trade with a PM but you can post that you'd like to buy the item then PM them to set something up.
No trail when you just PM someone without posting, easier for people to scam if that is their intention.

It is always recommended that you do the negotiation part of your trading inside a topic for a multitude of reasons, an important reason being the one listed under the trading rules:

No trades via PM. (It's harder to prove a scam via PM than from a trade thread, so always negotiate and deal through a trade thread, not PM).

Once negotiations are done you can go ahead and either request for a mediator (or ask the topic owner to request for one if you didn't create the topic) or take it to PMs and send private information such as your gamer tag or game name & password.

In cases like this, rather then necro a 9 day old thread, I’ll send a pm if user is a fairly active one asking if its available.

Then post in thread for item if they respond.

You can pm trade all you want. Some just consider it bm.

Idk who gave the guy above me his info. But you most certainly can pm trade all you want.
