Well first of all, do all the negotiations publicly inside your topic and never accept bids/bin offers via PM (which is illegal anyway), as users will try to "snipe" a seller's item and often with a rather ridiculous price, by getting everyone interested in your item to offer on your topic there is transparency and you'll receive more offers that way.

Secondly as various users mentioned above, do use the search function more often to compare and get a concept of how much the going price for items you are selling or buying are currently.

Last but not least, once negotiations are done in your topic you may proceed with requesting a mediator, that way there are virtually no chance of you getting scammed in a trade, have a read about it here: https://forums.d2jsp.org/info.php?p=11

Hey guys I really appreciate all the help but I do have another question, how in the hell can I close a topic? Let’s say, I had a item I was selling but moved it to a bigger list of items for trade and want to close the thread of just the single item that was bumped

You can't close threads. Just stop using/bumping them and they will naturally die.
