you don't need to request a mediator, but then trade becomes "at your own risk" - while you can open a scammer accusation in the event that you are scammed, you won't get anything back if said scammer just runs away with your items or fg.
i would stray away from trading with anyone with low post count/low fg/recent join date.
members with older accounts typically are more trustworthy, especially if they have fg

using a mediator is 100% safe trading; however, takes awhile to get a mediator.

personally, ive never used a mediator (that i recall).

I highly recommend using a mediator for your trades.

They are reliable, efficient, and safe. You can find more information here: How to request a mediator

Additionally, before you start trading, please get familiar with trading rules and general forum rules:

Forum rules

Lastly, if you are playing d2r and chose not to use a mediator, I would follow this Diablo II Resurrected Safe Trading Guide as well.

Good luck, and enjoy the forums!

I highly recommend just doing the trade unless its some obscene amount. Follow best practices like ensuring both participants share their name/tag and validate the trade in chat logs and you won't have issues 99% of the time

A common way to determine if a trader is trusted is to look at their
- Join date
- Post count
- Forum gold

If they have a old account, have high post count and lots of forum gold there is a very good chance they are trusted.

-join date means nothing.
-posts mean nothing.
-gold means nothing.

Fixed that for you. If the guy is sitting on at least 46k+ forum gold then he won't cheat you when trading a 500 fg item. Don't look at post count and account age; people often buy accounts to scam.

Did you say 46k+ because you have 46k? What a random number

The correct answer was provided in post #13.

Once again, you do not have to user a mediator, but you are highly encouraged to.

"2/3 rule" is not an official rule, and you are not obligated to follow it.

Exercise caution and best practices when trading and review the guides/rules that have been provided to you in post #13.

Enjoy the forums!
