Love the series, and the remastered plays beautifully on my one x. Just went through it as a tanky str/fai character and again as a mostly pure sorcerer.

One piece of advice I can give if you are struggling is go sword and board. Having a shield up, preferably one with 100% physical reduction or close to it, helps immensely. It lets you learn timings of attacks that enemies do and exploit the gap in their attacks.

As far as stats go, get enough str/dex to use your weapon of choice and then add to your survivability (hp/stamina). Long sword or mace are good early weapons that can take you far. Dont worry so much about armor, fashion souls is a thing.

If you have questions ask away, I'd be happy to help. Stay strong skeleton!

Yeah I've been following a guide because I got lost af at the beginning. Right now I just go to the bosses Ornstein and Smough and get absolutely destroyed lol. I'm in a bit of a predicament maybe you can help me out haha.

It seems easier to go fight them with summoning Solair or whatever his name is but the 2 giants in the room before mess me up too. I can kill them but I end up using like half my essences. I've tried summoning and making a run for the bosses and sometimes Solair follows, sometimes he stays out and fights the giants. So my predicament is, do I risk using what is left of my humanity to bring Solair in with me or should I fight them solo? (I have 5 humanity and left a couple twin)

As per the guide I'm using all the armor they are but my weapon lacks. They are using I think it's called a Black Knight Greatsword, I have a Black Knight Halberd but I'm significantly below the requirements to use it, thus I'm using a +10 Claymore. ( I looked up where to get that sword and I believe the Knight you kill for it has a 20% chance to drop the Greatsword but luck was not in my favor)

So leads to my next question, should I be looking for an immediate replacement for my Claymore and if so to what? Or is the Claymore decent enough and these bosses just a pain in the ass. Appreciate it haha

You can easily beat the game with any weapon, people have done first only runs without getting hit (crazy fuckers)

The claymore is a great weapon to use. Black knight weapons are also nice but upgrade with twinkling titanite which is more scarce. On my tanky char I used claymore and also black knight sword and they both did plenty of damage fully upgraded. Cant go wrong w either.

I'd use some lightning resin on your claymore if you have any. It will help against O&S. It only lasts a little while so use it mid battle from a safe distance.

Make sure you can roll. Fast or mid roll is much better than fat rolling. You can look up equip load in regards to rolling for the breakpoints. Sometimes its best to fight naked or close to it just so you get the fast roll. Roll roll roll!

As far as Solaire goes, I'd summon him. Keep in mind you can run past every enemy (giants in this case) and engage the fog door. Solaire will join you if you go quickly. If you find you are using too much estus just getting past the giants, say screw them and beeline it.

I'd take out Ornstein first. Focus one till they're dead, dont try and split damage. When one dies the other goes super sayan. I've found super Smough easier to deal with than super Ornstein.

Another tip is use a bow to draw aggro from normal mobs (dont try this in boss fights). Fighting one enemy at a time is much easier to manage than 2 or 3 at once. Gank spank is real. Also, a simple heal goes a long way at preserving estus. I like getting enough faith to use the lowest heal spell to top me off between bonfires and keeping estus for the oh shit moments.

Humanity can be farmed from rats and later on baby skeletons.

What not getting hit!? Insanity lol. I appreciate the tips I'll give it another go today. I'm glad to know that I don't need to upgrade my gear but rather upgrade my skill :)

Think of the game as a delicate dance, a game of chess, where you attack, defend, roll, attack, parry, all in a rhythm depending on who you fight. Every enemy has an attack pattern to learn in order for you to dance well or win the game of chess.

Button mashing wont help at all (unless you mash roll to gtfo, that can sometimes be useful)

Also, fuck gravity. Hardest boss. ;)

After many hours of aggravated fun finally beat it + dlc yesterday lol. What a challenge that was. Hardest for me was Ornstein and Smough. Had to stoop to the levels of glitching the game to beat them or I’d still be there haha.

On to dark souls 2 now. How does it compare in terms of difficulty?

Yay! Nice work!

Ds2 is fantastic in my book but gets mixed opinions from the community as many were expecting ds1 2.0.

If I can sum it up in a few words, it's faster paced, enemies like to gang up on you more (overwhelm with numbers), but the graphics and build options are far better than the first in my opinion. Also I feel it has the best fashion souls of the series.

One tip: when you get to the first hub area, dont join the Covenant of champions right away. It makes enemies harder. I learned this the hard way. Also, if you farm an enemy enough, it will stop spawning. Covenant of champions will stop this despawn, so it can be useful for farming once you are up to snuff.

Thanks for the tips! There is a lot of different changes such as inventory layout that keeps throwing me off and how if you die you lose a little bit of health until you take humanity.

I noticed the game speed seems much faster and like you said you get swarmed with enemies haha. I’ve already died probably 50 times in the beginning mainly from falling off shit cuz I’m not used to how quick your character moves :)
