Greetings fellow slashers,

I have seen discord servers referenced in various threads in my 7-8 weeks here in Ladder Slasher.

I was curious if these are available to join? Are they guild-specific / guild-exclusive? Is there a broader public LS server?

Mainly asking because I enjoy group climbs but find it hard to organize via JSP threads and the in-game group finder. If there's one out there and available to invite please send my way.

Many thanks

there are, might want to find a friend in a different guild, other than yours, to invite you to a discord server or two

All of them will have a public and guild only side to them. Most active people are in all of them.

The storm and EE discords are probably the most active on the public side and you'll see frequently folks looking for sneaky killers or putting groups together.

Shoot a PM. I'm sure he'll let you in the storm discord :)

They are all guild owned. There is no "public" discord server.

In general if you're active enough in the group climbs and dont suck in the group climbs you'll eventually get picked up by a guild.
Being in Mount Olympus isn't really going to help your cause as you look "taken" if you catch my meaning. As people are less likely to try and steal you, rather than if you were guildless to then just recruit you.
Also, what type of groups do you mean? as all group climbs are lvl 1 all the way to MQ, if you have a level 40-70 character and are hoping for someone to join to get to MQ, discord in general wont help you there. As those groups are just random.
I wrote a general guide ages back about group climbs, could probably use updating but the info is better than anything else available: https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=82759999&f=74

To be to the point, you can generally see whos active from the guild point list: https://ladderslasher.d2jsp.org/index.php?a=3&h=-1&t=4&c=2
Storms discord is generally more active as they accept more players.
EE discord is slightly more private as in general you need to climb with us a few times before we consider letting you in.
AD discord is about as private as EE
COK discord is invite only as far as i'm aware.
The other discords get less posts of when a group is being made so to be brutal, you need to get access to one of the above to know when group climbs are going up.

I appreciate all the info everyone. TYVM.

I joined Mt Olympus at the outset in response to the payouts advertisement. But, there is not much activity surrounding group climbs. Hoping to get a feel for each of the guilds before making a good choice. Is it bad/wrong to join them, feel them out, then switch? Seems like with as private as some are, that an acceptance/join should at least last a long time?

I would advise against joining the guilds to feel them out and then hop. Might leave a sour taste in some folks mouth.

Just climb with the different groups and you'll fall into place somewhere :)

It's not uncommon for a guild to start a group in private and then go public to fill the last one or two spots. Being in those discords will help with that.

Again, with what BH said. Plan on a 1-MQ climb, and make sure you can set aside up to 90 mins. Click, don't afk, and use your abilities. Rarely ever will you find a 30-mq or something random like that.

I let anyone into our discord. But we are a lot of solo players. We do participate in group climbs. And I pay 25fg per gp.
But I let anyone in to feel it out. Sometimes it's not for you.
It's easier to get involved. But even you being in Mount Olympus I was hesitant to even make this post. As to where I have no desire to poach. Just creating a place to coincide.
So even in mount Olympus you can always join discord.

I keep a leveled mage and can generally always kill sneaky shell. I also am in storm discord just to keep an eye out for groups and talk to other friends.
But even in their discord, I'm less apt to bring my mage in to answer a call. Give away a well. Hold a catacomb/map for someone cuz its not my immediate guild... But for map pops and stuff, If I got the time.. I help.
Put your name out to the open discords. Get involved in groups and feel it out. Nothing is necessarily public though. You still need to get an invite somewhere

It would not let me reply to your guide, but here is what I attempted to reply with:

Incredibly helpful guide. Wish I had seen this about 3 weeks ago before I did a few climbs with GG groups.
I especially didn't know about vault transfer hotkeys and auto-deposit setting... game changing.
I also previously thought you had to hit G then T to rewhistle instead of just T. Woulda made my 1-85 driving look a lot better. :)
The detail in the class-based point and skill distribution is much appreciated.

Awesome guide. TY

as outraged had mentioned.. i was hesitant to post as well.

my only recommendation, if you are planning to leave MO and move foreward to another guild, is to try and get into climbs with ppl from other guilds, feel out the guild in question that way. as with most guilds, theres GM and BM players. some are all about the fast climb basing you being in their group on your gear and your avg click count. others simply dont care and will have you join regardless of gear, as long as you try to click.

now.. if you are moreso leaning towards solo play; i see you do not have a hardcore character. hardcore has become a desolate ghost town in relevance to activity and groups. it is primarily solo based now with a group climb happening once in a blue moon. Most of us on HC are very easy going, and will even go through our mules of gear to at least try and gear you up to start out. cost wise; youd probably be looking at 2x what youve invested in sc for gear as the most valuable items are 50/55 due to rarity.

i was once in MO years ago, grew tired of the quick climbs and tried hc (for the challenge). after building my gear up, i found what i believe to be my forever home with OP. just note. if you are to try hc.. if you RIP you loose the character and all gear on it permanantly. this is also another reason as to why mq worthy items are so rare and expensive on hc.

as per discord. i know paul went through a dramatic phaze where he tried banning anything related to discord on jsp. i believe he wanted jsp to be standalone ( use jsp chat) to have record of trades/transactions between cross game trading. but yes. most guilds have discord, and most will allow you to join. id just get to know ppl in game first and foremost.

Thanks for the compliment.

One other thing is you can change the whistle hockey as t is honestly not ideal. I personally use space to engage which is easier to reach for explore climbs and x for whistling. Think you need to change close all windows off of space if you decide to use space for something else
