I am in particular curious to best leveling up path, which tier to fish, use of +proficiency vs +dura rods. also for cooking - what to cook when.

Yeah, that one is a little out of date.

Can fish for the level it automatically selects for you. Use a rod close to the level you are fishing for. Can use rods above your level, less chance to snap rod, maybe a small exp penalty.

with the change in way rods use dura, dura seems to be the way to go.

You also fish much faster using the lowest level rod you can while still successfully catching. I used to think that higher level rods equate to more efficient fishing but that isn't the case.

I still don't quite understand how the listed level on the rods work. At fishing skill rank level 2 I can use tier 3 rods even though the rod states "skill rank req: 10" but any higher rods I can't use.

I am lvl7 fishing I can use lvl10 rods but cannot lvl30. although tooltip text says i should not be able to use lvl10.

what about prices of fish? i see weird prices on the MP. whats normal rate fish is sold? is it like 1fg per 1k life?

People get pretty specific on the types and levels of fish that they want. Not sure if there are any set prices; I think your best bet is to look at the ISO trades to get an idea. Most requests i see are always for uncooked
