Just a general question.

Coming from nothing, suggestions for a set or two to try and get to climb with? Weapon type/armor/charms or caster? Probably solo mostly.

Swords are normally noobfriendly enough since u can use them for the first 3 classes, to go with that u'd want either tank armors or str armors (tank armors = EE) and str charm.

When it comes to groups is normally not too bad of being a tank as a nooby since "most" ppl would only take u as a +1 pretty much, the better u do in a group the more eyes you'll get on you and you'll be invited into more groups more often.
If you're slacking and doesnt help out much in a climb most ppl will just ignore you or kick you.

There are alot of newbfriendly guilds out there who helps out with gear etc, and slashing on ur own isnt the easiest if ur intention is to play in groups at least.
Playing solo on the other side doesnt really matter too much if you're in a guild or not, not being in one u might be able to sell some MQs for fg's etc.

I would suggest sword set (can be used on first 3 classes) with strength charms and either enhanced effect armors or strength armors.

As both NR1 and Moojilush mentioned swords are good as they can be used on the first three classes. You can then use staffs on monk (fourth class), but would need dex robes/charms before using the swords on your ninja again.

You could also go to other routes:

Clubs/Daggers - You would then need strength armors (or EE) and charms for the clubs, and dex armors/charms for the daggers (would recommend robes so you can use them on monk/ninja). You can use the clubs for figher/barb, and then at pally. The daggers can be used for Samurai/Monk/Ninja

Axes/Daggers - You would be able to go only dex armors/charms.

In terms of how much weapons costs: Daggers>=Axes>>Swords>>>>>>Clubs/Staffs

Dex items are generally more expensive than strength items.

Okay, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to mule items between my own chars without a vault. It is probably some easy thing that I just can't remember. Also, this one click till the monster dies....that's "new", right? It has been years since I've done more than smack a couple of monsters then log off.
