Hello there, I've been enjoying this game for a few days and I have some questions that would be nice to solve

- what is overspawn?
- what is an mq item?
- why there is different class skills if I can run powerstrike as a barb?
- If I cancel a selling item, do I pay the fee?
- and the most important one for me, my best weapon atm (for barb) is an axe, which is 50/50 str-dex. Does this means that should I upgrade str and dex equally on my build? If not, what's the best build for max dmg.

thanks

Hello there, I've been enjoying this game for a few days and I have some questions that would be nice to solve

- what is overspawn? Magic Luck allows you to find items with stats 1 tier above normal max
- what is an mq item? generally lvl 55 item (end game to get to MQ)
- why there is different class skills if I can run powerstrike as a barb? You can use any class skills, but you build % easier with whatever class you are
- If I cancel a selling item, do I pay the fee? No. (unless you're posting an item OVER 20fg; where the fee is paid upfront.
- and the most important one for me, my best weapon atm (for barb) is an axe, which is 50/50 str-dex. Does this means that should I upgrade str and dex equally on my build? If not, what's the best build for max dmg. It does not matter.. they both help equally, every time you get an even number damage goes up..

thanks

MQ is master quest.

Generally, for efficiency, you want to stick with either Str or Dex. For Barb, as all weapons are strength based, statting all strength would be preferred. This would provide max damage and the ability to switch weapon types as necessary.
There's some calculation about crit chance based on ratios, but, in the grand scheme of things, I'm not sure it makes a significant difference in terms of dps.
Also another thing to note, strength stat items and strength based weapons are generally cheaper to acquire.

Only a subset of skills are actually relevant. And of that subset only another subset are appropriate for group climbs vs solo climbs. I personally use power strike and salvation for solo climbs. And multistrike/cast for group climbs.

I've seen in multiple posts that barbarian should go str all the way but, what if my only decent weapon is an axe at the moment?, I guess my question really would be, what actually means that a club is 90/10 vs 50/50 from an axe? What do I gain and what do I lose when I go full str while equipping an axe?

thanks for the help ^^

It means that for clubs with a 90/10 ratio u get 0.9ee per str point, and only 0.1ee per dex
So for axes you get 0.5ee for either str or dex, so it doesnt matter which of the 2 you stat, same dmg either way.
But by stating str u secure more posibilities of weapon usage as u can swap between axe/club/sword for example with club and sword are heavier into the str usage.

I understand now, thanks

well nr1's post is the simplified version which is easier to understand and close enough, the real version is significantly more complicated.
complicated enough that no-one precisely knows how it works (dex on clubs will influence critical strike more than strength does, but not enough to make it worthwhile statting dex)

damn, one would think that such an old game would be completely butchered and measured, but yeah, I get the main idea

If you're particularly interested the damage formula is there.
https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=91874826&f=74

As you can see, it gets complicated.

Let's suggest we have a level 25 club with 100ee and 20 strength and another club with 120ee, which does more damage?

The actual answer is that between 0-110 or so strength the one with ee and strength does more, whilst more than 110 should be the ee club.
That's from memory, could be wrong by a little, you get the gist
Due to that complexity we just say strength = 0.9 or 1 ee for clubs

Similarly there's a debate of how many stats is crit worth. In general the calculations say around 2 stats. However when your stats are well over 200 it gets closer to 3.

I see that for the axe I would need to achieve even stat numbers and preferably multiple of 4 to maximize bonus damage. I guess I'm overthinking this too much considering I'm a 0 mq barb but this gives me a better notion of the main idea. Thanks for the guide
