For the mentor program one: Is this program still running? I'm an old player getting back into HC slashing and would love some advice.

Been following that guide, just curious if slashing for profit is still a thing, or just fun now. Not finding much of my MP stuff moving.

Number 1 to for HC. Don’t die.

There are items/maps that sell fairly decently. Mostly for people who are Skilling. Or if you fish/cook to a decent enough level and get good stacks, specially mana, they sell well. As far as item drops for selling at high value, it's very rare. The drop rate is low.

Cool. And do guilds still recruit? I'm sorta far from a MQ, only in the mid 20s, but figured it's worth planning for.

Yes, there are some they still pay fg for GP. Maybe real is the only one left that does that. Theres only a few really active guilds left tbh. Getting in the discord channels for each one is the best bet, that way you can see when they do the group climbs and need people. I've only been here for a few years, but if you slashed before maybe some of the old school people remember you? No idea. But Storm is a good guild to start trying to get into.

given he's HC, probably better off that one of the HC guilds picks him up

EE has a mix of sc/hc but generally need to have spoken/climbed with us before we pick anyone up

People have given you the best advice they see fit to play LS, and maybe get into an active HC guild that may still have one(1) or more active players. Since I am a member of Kirby and appreciate Bigheaded's post, we have one(1) active Hardcore Group player (this does not mean that other members will not help you grow).

I can only give advice based on my findings and play-style being solo (and some group runs).

"What is the most dominant Melee Stat on 98% builds?"
... Dexterity.

"Why is Dexterity the dominant Melee Stat?"
... Other than an Alchemist which does not use a Weapon, 99% of all character classes have above 1/3 Dexterity that is found only on a Guardian. Not only that, Objectives in the run favor Dexterity ... Bits n Pieces and Ambush which are easy to complete, as for Pinch of Evil or Face of Evil and Treasure Pest, you can allocate the +X stats.
... Basically just look at the character classes in the portals, see the base starting stats of each class from Feeder to Alchemist... basically it is based on Dexterity (excluding Guardian)

"What is the best weapon(s) to use for each build?"
... If you take into consideration of the Class (character) you choose and unlocked after each pass, and also consider your Base Melee stats (excluding Casters like Mage / Warlock and the Alchemist), you will choose the weapon with the highest Ratio that fits the Class and base stats... Rogue can use multiple weapons with Dexterity ratio being high, whereas a Samurai can only use Dagger (dex ratio) and the base melee stats are minor in comparison.


tl;dr ... basically, melee = Dexterity weapons with higher stat ratio as long as the character class has high dexterity as well. You will find most of the objectives favor Dexterity over strength.

However, you can find decent amounts of muteable and white junk that sells for 1-19 fg each and that fg adds up quickly….but you need to be able to kill ep’s.

Regular monsters will drop the whites and rarely lvl 25 and up stuff.
