His results will likely not be useful for the typical long-term melee player because Rex basically just stats vit. If your damage dealt is low, at high levels you'll start to do almost no damage (i.e., mob armor is starting to overtake damage dealt). In such a case, armor pierce will have a huge effect, but for the typical player who is actually dealing considerable damage, the amount negated by monster armor is only a small percentage of the damage, and so it will take many procs of armor pierce to equal one crit worth of extra damage.
I won't be able to confirm it because I use Armor Pierce +13 / +1 Power Shot and because of the Ratios increasing the chance of a Critical Hit, I can NOT identify which RED damage is for what Mod. It has nothing to do with low damage considering you can get RED damage indicating 0 when attacking Sneaky and those duplicate monsters.
Unless information below is incorrect [V1.09]
V1.09
Critical Strike:
- Made changes to the damage modifiers in relation to the opponents defense, balance changes.
- Per request added Critical Strike to show
with the other red modifier actions.
@ above, can not find anything to verify it. I don't recall "red" text in vs 1.15Code
+ Critical Strike Increases your chance to perform a powerful attack.
+ % Armor Pierce Gives a % chance to ignore the target Defense for your attack. Lowered target defense will result in more damage dealt.
+ % Power Shot Gives a % chance that your melee attack will do the full damage amount listed on the weapon.
V1.18
- Armor Pierce now works for Offensive Charms
V1.19
- Critical Hits are now denoted with a ! after the damage amount. For instance, if you critical hit for 234, it will show "234!". Same thing applies to monsters that critical hit you or allies.
V1.20
Critical hits are now displayed in red text

Does the
! indicating "Critical Hit" show up? I am guessing this was changed when identified as Red text.
So, in the past it was Strength that modified damage to all Melee and Dexterity that increased other mods like Crit Strike / Armor Pierce and Power Shot. Maybe that is why I noticed that higher dex using longsword gave more
"red" text indicators.Things to also look at.
