Over 100 people now have over 1 in fishing proficiency (and numerous have higher now). There are only 82 rods in the game, of various levels, so clearly it's not impossible as you claim, with or without a rod. The problem here is that: 1) You don't know how it works, yet think you do. 2) It's been less than 24 hours since release, so your complaints are akin to complaining the day Hardcore was released that there were not uber level 55 items, and therefore it's a lousy addition and should be "rethought/reconsidered".
In short, as usual, you have no idea how to make, design, create, manage, balance, and update a game. Enjoy playing it, however, or quit if it irks you so.
And see you again in 1.12

1. I owned (and broke during a lag spike) a splintered fishing rod. I own a plain Elm fishing rod (which sucks and does exactly as much as a loaner rod). I own, but can't use, a Heartwood fishing rod.
2. I have the timing for flame counter and snag counter down pretty well, with the exception of lag spikes. The problem is, even with the boosts of the counter, the fish is stronger than the pole, and does more "damage" per click than the poll reals in, much of the time.
3. I have actual proficiency in fishing. I'm not sure where you were going with that.
The last, and the worst, I spent hours in the Maze, when I HATE the maze, to get a fishing rod. I got it! But, with no mods, it does no better than a loaner. Any comment on that? Seeing as we can't well them, why exactly do plain ones drop? Can't well, can't sell, can't shrine, what's the use?

*Awaits an additional warning for daring to post here again
Edit: Also, the one that is heartwood, which I apparently can't use, doesn't show up red, like regular items you can't use. Would you mind fixing the coloring so that if you can't use it, we know? Thanks.
