aaaaand the majority of players will count this as a useless event. The only useful mod is the extra wells and thats minor.

The last event was hard but at least it was useful.

It wasn't fun for me. I guess it's fun only for those with elite gear, which isn't many.

This definitely wasn't an event that's friendly for players with average gear, let alone bad gear.

yeah that event was brutal on HC. I statted 85vit instead of the usual 65 and I still managed to need to use like 125x 1k hp fishies between 55 and 71

I won't lie... I didn't expect to see an event like that last one... it seemed like way more monster difficulty than most players want... Of course, I still wanted much more... and even back when I was first starting with subpar gear, I would have still wanted it. What I really crave in this game more than anything is a way to have a greater challenge with greater rewards. However, I think players should be able to make the choice of that greater challenge or not. Much like the difference between whistle climbing and exploring, I'd really enjoy Paul making trapdoors increase monster difficulty dramatically, not just monster level, so that if you really want a challenge, you can go down, say, 5 trapdoors for 50% x 5 increased monster difficulty. The people that don't want harder monsters won't ever have to fight them, and those who want to can increase the difficulty to their heart's content.

Anyway, slush is right, more fun = less activity. In other words, activity level is not a good indicator of fun level ;)
For example, you could dramatically increase activity on LS by making an event like 100% increased GP awarded from all sources... but the game didn't change at all, so the fun level should be the same :P

Hopefully that's not the last we'll see of high monster difficulty... or the highest for that matter :thumbsup:

I thought about something like whistle with up to +5 or even +10 lvls to have a harder challenge + get more profs/drops/exp.
On the other hand whisle with -5 or -10 of your own lvl (which is allready possible) but decreasing the hard exp/drop/prof penalty

would eventually be a nice solution to make it possible for players with good gear to find a challenge/reward and for other players with worse gear to have an easier start

I liked the concept of your idea too. I think maybe I just didn't love it as much because it required you to not explore, and I feel like when you don't explore you miss most of the game... also no EPs, unless Paul puts some EPs into +level whistles. Anyway, in the current version of the game, monster level above character doesn't really do enough IMO. Monster difficulty as we both know makes a huge difference. But if Paul fixes monster level to increase rewards after ~5 levels higher than the player level, I'm down with this too.

The reason why most of us oldies in here arent a fan of exploring is because we all know how this game used to be, exploring was much more fun/rewarding back in the days when we could explore and farm ambush in ~5-7min
Paul didnt like that everyone was doing this so he increased the spawnrate to about 12-15min, ppl were still farming this and he made them barely spawn and now ep's CANNOT drop whites anymore.

So most of us who thought the game was much mroe fun back in the days know how much exploring sucks today compared to back then, and all the nerfs to profs we've had are huge.
Back then going from 1-10 in a prof was 2-3 arena climbs (solo) For someone like me back then I only had avg gear and barely decent gear today 1x arena climb took me about 16h to complete.
But that was ALOT more fun, because every monster kinda felt like a EP today, it needed like 3-5hits sometimes more to kill.

Just the part about regen back then was kinda fun, and regen gear would sell for a few K fg. now they have no use at all. But still ppl are complaining as soon as we dont have a shrine event, lazy fa****s.

Me on the other side love exploring, But I mostly do it for either prof or skillables, and it's kinda useless to farm lower lvls so that's why I would prefer a whole MM instead of a lvl 30-71 explore. Mostly for profs.

And one of the reasons why the game was mroe rewarding before was because we had like 10-15 stats LESS than what we do ahve today. So yeah it was easier finding better gear..

Yeah, I hear you on all counts Nic. If the game could go back to that, then I think most of us would consider it an improvement... anyway, if it can't go back to what it was, I still want improvements over what it is :thumbsup:

Idk how many times i've said all this haha, but the biggest reason we lost players is because of Transmuting, that was the only way of gamble before.
The only way to bring back players and make it able for random ppl to make fg out of this game again is to add another way of gambling, or making transmuting what it was and try to figure out a way of making the prof useable so ppl wont go bananas.

Alot of regular climbs even in groups used to take 6h back then, and ppl complaind like hell because of it and that's why we got to the point where we are today with faster climbs because the majority liked those ideas, but we lost alot of ppl during the way here, mostly because of muting and rest because of disappearance of the arena.

Nic you know I regard your opinion rather highly but I don't even know where to begin with this one.
How is the person who prefers to continue playing with the use of shrinables the lazy one? As opposed to the person who uses regen gear and spends time sitting in town?
Waiting in town to regen your life is objectively one of worst things in this game. Regen gear is a band-aid to this issue, not a fix. All it does is save time on waiting, that's great but at the end of the day any time spent waiting is just that. Waiting.
A game that actively repels you from playing the game (i.e. waiting) is a game that's just fundamentally flawed. This is why we cry for shrine effectiveness events. Waiting in town is not engaging, and it's not fun.

I can maybe see the argument that "oh but there's skilling so if you want to keep playing you can just skill in town until you regen your life". Skilling is not the same as exploring/climbing and many players don't find skilling fun and they shouldn't be forced to skill in order to have continuous play.
