I don't want solo to be faster, because then you have the old arena days back, where everyone was playing solo and to find a group was nearly impossible.
As I see it, this game is now clearly focussed on group play. If you want to solo, you can do it but you will take longer to mq. The trade off is that you get more prof for a solo climb.
IMO it is perfectly balanced in this current version
Most groups don't even bother exploring, their main objective is to get to 71, or 55+ then explore for drops, or more likely Shaman hunt for drops (depending on groups goal).
So, this takes like between 60 minutes to 3 hours (dependent on the items of the players).
Roughly 3 hours to level 35-45 (solo). If I got to 71 in 5 hours, it would seem more balanced, not spend another 5+ hours to get from 35 (or 45) to level 71.
Noted: My end gear is not super. Using level 35 / 45 items, but, very good in terms of continual climbing to 71.
Prof gain is NOT a trade off, it is simple mathematics... a solo player in retrospect has more actions compared to a single person in a group of 2-5, BUT, the actions of all 5 should retrospectively be near equal to that of a solo player.
Note: ignoring EPs, equipment and so on.
There is a simple way to balance it out... for every person in the group, each monsters life goes up by 20% / Prof gain +1 per person in group (this also increases the max per wave... Note: since actions are less to kill, most you would gain would be around 10 anyway: re-evaluate for heals though).
As you can see, group climbs would effectively get longer, but not by much, and the trade off, you gain more prof for that extra time.
Work it...

EDIT: Not sure if this is correct, but doesn't ML / Drop % and other things increase when you are in a Group? If so, I think group runs have everything in comparison to solo.
