I have had monk a few times, and I found that what works best for me as well as for those in company is to add the 1st 10 stat points to int, gear him up with a dagger, max the dex,
toss an EE focused heal charm in the acc slot, and go as a melee healer.

The heals are not superduper awesome, but they are good enough to be counted on in an emergency.

And, since I don't cast for damage, I am not burning up my mana.

Hating monks are so 2010 imo.
If you want that warlock, you already have gear to be a caster monk.

I follow Rgc213's build and I find it ideal. I won't post my items but I will say my 'mq wpns' got a lot less then 100ee and I still do 1.2k criticals/avg of 420 dmg (according to my current catacomb stats) and I use a level 40 regular heal (not high ee either less then 100ee) and the average heal is 375, 15 min levels including at level 60+ thats soloing. Its 70 vitality, 30 intel and the rest dex - EE robes or a dex one. Thats HC tho.

I have done far to many casting climbs with monk on hc.. 55 vitality the rest intel... its slow as hell and doesn't seem to pick up until around level 60

e/ I "hated" monk until I stoped with the casting/healing now its kind of fun

I also hate monk. Have gone three ways with him, melee, caster, and hybrid melee, and I still hate the bald bastard. He is a versatile character, but he always stops me from getting my favorite class (Ninja) as I usually will get to Monk pretty fast and then fail 50 times in a row...

I also refuse to spend a large amount of FG just to gear ONE character. I am a sword/str user, so naturally Monk does not fit in with my setup. Have opted to cast/heal on him recently, and it works, just naturally not as nice as Mage.

So it seams it's something new to most of you :)

This hybrid can heal eps without a problem so its considered a strong healer. If I had a dex/high hm charm this would really be crazy.

And yes I admit this does not fit for those who got low fgs to spend but this build can rock and belive me I hate to cast on a monk and I hate to melee aswell but this hybrid made me adore it.

I want some remarks regarding how beneficial can be putting all points into inteligence and If having a crazy piece of gear with high max mana can absolve a monk of using his points into inteligence.

My ideea was to make his heal as powerfull as almost any healer while doing consistent damage.

I think If we move all the stat points into dex sure we can do a lot more damage but our heals could just not outstand some crazy eps.

My monk builds are a bit different. Great ideas to chew on here, but this is how I've gone:

Build 1: Full dex w/ dags
Build 2: Full Int w/ Caster Monk (I do also utilize int charms and cast from accessory)
Build 3: Hybrid. I go to a total of 70 int first and then rest into dex. My gear will either have +int or +hm on various pieces. I heal out of accessory ofc.
Build 4: Tanker Monk--I have some ee/stat robes that allow me to tank if we're all robies.

I've never been a fan of adding +vit onto anything but a mage to 30vit or get my guys to 50vit for Sneaky. I'm always a fan of considering a strong offense as the best defense (ie: kill them b4 they can hit you). I'm not going to bother listing out my gear as you can see it in the link in my sig, but all builds work extremely well for me depending what our group make-up needs are.

Yeah Im sure softcore have some crazy items so it would be esier to build a hybrid melee/healer.

70 intel might work Im not sure yet but I will try it out.

I plan to test this build for like 4-5 climbs to see how it goes with different investement in inteligence/dex and calculating the total damage. Might be in ideea with 70. Thanks for your post.

Yeah, I could probably get away with less int now. My builds were tweaked to full chain @ 1-71 in arena while maximizing killing speed for my gear. It's all back to the drawing board now, but I think I'll find myself less as a hybrid and more of simply a full melee or caster/healer monk

I imagine If for hardcore that can be done becouse If you meet like 9 eps and you have like 1.5 k mana then you are bad nomather what ^^
the thing is that here on hardcore we value our life higher then you guys :)

I have a suggestion then, put in the thread that your build is optimized for HC. I always assume SC when I read anything in this channel and I'm guessing others do too ^ ^
