I would avoid magician for now since its one of the most difficult classes to begin with. Also you need robe with intelligence and weapon with intelligence.

My recommendations are either rogue (if you plan on looking for maps which you get every time you finish the catacomb) or barbarian.

The goal of this game is to get to lvl 71 and do the master quest. Completing this gives you and your guild a guild point (or guild points if you pass). Passing let’s you unlock new characters until eventually you get to alchemist. Once a alchemist passes their final master quest, the entire server gets rerolled back to lvl 0 characters but you keep your items and whatever proficiencies you earned.

You get to make your goal in any game you play. Common goals in LS:

1. Resetting the ladder
2. Acquisition of wealth/gear
3. Proficiency grinding/laddering
4. Guild points

You find your own way.

# 1, 2 and 4 are the same thing in retrospect.
#3 does NOT require any of the others if you know how to accumulate Prof points.

Okay... you created 2 characters, and since reset, they appear as "None" in the "Class" section.

TropicalFish
QualityMage

You are playing Softcore, and the items you accumulated are somewhat sub-par. Create another six(6) characters on SC to be mules for your gear.

You do NOT have to invest in a Vault, you invest in Tier III items with +3 EES that your character and mules can use... saves you Forum Gold.

Simple information: Base Vitality to 100 (know matter the character class), this helps if you HAVE to solo or join a group later on (if they want to carry you and help you). The rest is into the highest stat Ratio of the weapon or Intelligence for casting.

Your gear is simple:

Melee:
EE weapon
EE armor
Stat Main charm (strengh or dexterity)

Now for Melee / Heal or Casting / Heal, you need +Intelligence on your items.

People will help you along with the rest of the information, as they have supplied a link to Guide, but, also think about the character class and the Stats they start with... for example... a rogue has high dexterity, so that is what you want for weapons with high dexterity ratio, as for mage... it is all int, but the defense of using robes only makes you take more physical damage and you heal a lot more etc.

Perspective my dear fellow.

#1 Resetting Ladder requires you to have gear and can afford Vault on a regular basis (#2), this also includes gaining Guild points (#3)
#2 Acquisition of Gear & Wealth requires you to play hard, gaining Guild points (#3) and this also leads to resetting ladder (#1)
#4 Guild Points... just add in both #1 & #2... it all takes up your time.

Oh... keep on clicking now... click... click... click. (tap for those on phones or tablets etc)

False -

1. resetting the ladder does not require any gear.
2. People can and often keep characters at 60 and hunt gear and NEVER mq
4. People might min/max GP by rerolling the same class.

Just because YOUR approach to those are aligned, doesn't mean that the goal is aligned and/or that the community follows suit.
