i think IM is 2400 or more
started lichess 770 in 2019 and now i'm 1600ish (were over 1700)
those ratings have around 200 inflation vs basic elo so indeed it would be very tall order :P but then again i haven't studied very hard so 2000s should be possible

yes 2000 is a realistic goal, but really not easy

sometimes if you aim very high its easier to succeed lower if you dont give up first

i played lots of game in my life and i always come back to chess because there is no limit in that game. The fact that you need to start young to be a top player should not be a concern, the young players will usually be superior in tactics but you can beat them with strategy and experience.

arent there only 1000 or so mlb players but almost 20k chess masters tho

i meant to compare grand masters with mlb players

i just read that there is 1500 grand masters on 800 million chess players
