Could we get a guild invite button for guilds to invite people to their groups and an option to turn it off if you dont want any invites. I think this would be a great way for the site to reach and connect with individual users.

According to the Guild FAQ there's already a pending member button. Having guild leaders send out invites might cause newer guilds to spam people invites and be more of a nuisance than a helpful tool.

The current way of applying seems better to me as people who don't want to be in guilds aren't bothered by it and people who want to join a guild, which is a privilege, can put in the work to find the right one for them.

Or did you mean something else?

I like the idea. If people are concerned about getting spammed by it, how about jsp enables a list of notifications you are willing to receive via boxes you can check off. Pretty simple.

I’m with on this one, newer guilds would abuse and spam people with invites. The guilds are fine the way they are if it fits someone’s need they will apply.

This is a great expansion upon his idea but it could be a "Block Guild Invite" button instead of for notifications. Unfortunately I believe this isn't very intuitive to new users and we would be adding another thing onto the burden of said new users who have enough on their plate to learn already. There is a "Newest User" link on the homepage that will inevitably be used to immediately send them guild invites.

At least this is how I'd see this going. As I've said, people who are interested in guilds will find a way to join them and explore the guild button.

Treat people like they are stupid and they will never get more intelligent.

New users wouldn't know any different because the new feature came before them.

If they can find the Guild button, I don't see why they can't find the settings button.

OP, make a poll and let the people vote.

Traditionally guilds/clans have been opt-in afaik. Guilds should really want others to want to join them, not the other way around. Jsp offers a multitude of ways for members to get into a guild already. They have access to private messaging a person from the guild, request to join, post in their guild topic, or engage with a user in irc chat/a topic.

I voted no

No, people who choose to be guildless don’t want to be slammed with notifications
