Some people use "40s" as in 4-zero-s
Some people use "4os" as in 4-letter o-s

Would be nice if digit [o/0] s were treated the same when it comes to searching.

I know this is a suggestion but you can't change a character to have 2 meanings.

Your example would look exactly like this in search bar:
"4os"|"40s"

Or if you wanted to search for archon plates:
"Archon plate 4os"|"archon plate 40s"|"4os ap"

if the search already supports pipes to separate then it could automatically replace 4os with "4os|40s"

I'm sorry but changing 0 and o to have the same meaning in one instance is not enough to add multiple meanings to characters. The search operator is enough in this instance. Your suggestion would save you a few keyboard clicks and I don't think that's a quality of life upgrade.
The search bar is a site wide feature. Not just trading grounds. Thought I'd include that here.

It's quite easily the easiest thing to switch, you make it seem like the code to implement this will take hours to do.

When the search term of regex matches \d[0oO][sS] then -> 4oS|4os|40S|40s

This is a 5 minute change request, a highschooler just learning to program could implement this

P.S Nobody reads the search tips and tricks, people will search ap 40s then ap 4os and i bet if JSP tracked usage they'd see I'm right.

And it takes 3 seconds to type a few extra characters. Changing the code for the search bar, which is used site wide and not just in trading grounds, to save a few clicks is no from me.

maybe a better solution would be to add some sort of pre-canned tagging functionality such as [socketed] etc. like you’d see on a website where your looking for clothing (size, gender, brand, etc). so people don’t have to resort to 4 os/0s/open socket/ or the other twelve nomenclatures to specify something has a socket in it. But even this would have to be thought out thoroughly

your suggested implementation doesn’t really address the problem. it’s more of a band aid to the 1 specific example you provided

yes to the problem space (searching for sockets easier), but no to your implementation (o/0 handling)

The implementation is an example that covers i'd say 95% of the socket examples I see. (tbh it's close to 100%)

I don't really see people saying "five open socket phase blade for trade" but that's where the people who want to have their results to show up would have to do their own SEO (search engine optimization) so that they can get clicks and get sales of their items.
