I’ve seen multiple threads recently of people sticking popular item names in their threads, with or without pretence, to cause their threads to appear when searching for those items. They aren’t actually selling them. They just want to get people’s attention for the 1% chance they stick around and see something else they like.

This is some stupid garbage and shouldn’t be permitted.

Hey Cammy,

Could you give us an example of what you are referring to?
A lot of item descriptions in d2r tend to be a little subjective. For example, many peoples use “gg” description in the title of their rare items. While there is no rule that prohibits them to use that description, it is definitely not a fact that their items are truly that good.

On the other hand, some items are very specific and require proper description not to mislead potential buyers. For example, if you describing cta and get some of its stats like battle orders or battle command wrong - that would be a scam.

I am not sure if including the item that you don’t have for sale in the title is considered a scam. I think it will really vary case by case and the intend of the seller.

Also, I would add a poll to your topic - if you want to get anywhere with your suggestion.

Hope this helps :)

Are you talking about clickbait titles?

Here's a textbook example: https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=89982198&f=268&p=592660520#p592660520

As you can see, he's got a bunch of highly-sought-after items listed at the bottom. None of them are actually for sale or have any particular relation to the items he's selling, but he knows people are searching for those items frequently so his thread will appear in more search results by sticking them in.

I wouldn't call it a scam but it's definitely irritating exploitative behavior.

This was the initial one that pissed me off: https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=89980028&f=268&p=592650523#p592650523

He's tried to be "clever" by having the pretense that the list of items is necessary to prevent people offering him items in lieu of fg, but not clever enough to avoid including obvious search terms like "mf" and "3os" without any actual item relating to them. He lied a couple times pretending like it was a legitimate thing to include before admitting he's trying to game the system.

I see, you are referring to the search tags.

Yeah, I agree that’s an intend to mislead members to gain more attention to the post.

I don’t see a direct way to report, besides PMing a moderator. However, it is a good point. I would add a poll to this topic to see how many people would agree with perhaps adding another “report” topic associated with misrepresenting information and using wrong tags.

  • Be specific in your trades. List everything that is for sale, especially in packages, with as much detail as possible. Unlimited quantity sales are not allowed.
  • Do not offer fg/items you don't have.

It's an illegal trade already I believe?
