How about spreading the word to new users to use a mediator? I like that suggestion more.

I made a PSA on the d2r softcore subforum, got spammed with a bunch of arguments against meds(suuuper stupid imo) and then the thread got closed by mods.

We will never be able to "stop" scamming completely. There are always going bad apples out there that will come up with ways to try and scam you out of your hard earned items and currency, and there are always going to be people who are going to fall victim to them.
I have personally been scammed by individuals after years of playing and trading with them with no problems. Anything can happen. The best thing to remember is screenshots/pm confirmations are your best friends!

Post 3 is right on the money. Using a mediator is the only guaranteed way to ensure safe trading, which is why we always recommend going down this route.

This..i did trade in 3mins with experienced user and 15-20 with new user/server waiting.. for 10k fg trade i think the few mins worth it

This was my first thought as well.

If someone attempts to initiate a trade via pm just politely ask them to defer to your trade thread, if they don’t want to or get mad about it then number 1 that’s already an illegal trade attempt and number 2 should probably be a good indicator that maybe they’re up to something. I run into this all the time and have literally never had a person get upset about it, just be respectful to people.

At this point anyone getting scammed by new members is allowing it to happen to themselves. If it’s a concern, don’t give first or use a mediator. The meds do awesome work and it’s why they’re there. Why add negative quality of life changes to new users just because people are too lazy to use the system already in place?
