Hi! I landed on this forum trying to gain insight about how this game's economy works. Today Diablo dropped me a Chaos skiller, perfect Vita charm (45 life), so I wanted to trade it and make it fair for both players involved.
The matter is: my account is new, yesterday tried to trade a Cham rune on this same forum, which someone replied and we arranged in game. Instead of offering me the "mediator" tool (which I didn't know of at that point), the guy offered me 800g instead of the 700 previously agreed, claiming that there are risks involved because of my account being new. Of course I took it as a scam since he wanted me to trade it before I could see the balance changing on my forum account.

So... how does this work to make the trade both safe and fair?

Thanks in advance and cheers from Chile!

Do request for a med with that chaos lifer charm. Worth a ton!

U can get a good idea of the person u dealing with by checking their post history, number of posts and amount of fg.

Don’t trust if you don’t want trouble. If a deal seems too good, it probably is.

Record your high value transactions.

Good luck and enjoy. Heaps of good people here!

Just request a mediator for bigger trades https://forums.d2jsp.org/info.php?p=11
I don't know why anyone would give hundreds of forum coins first to account made today, but still I see plenty of ppl done it in SA.

Yeah after I realized that mediation is a thing, I thought afterwards about why the guy I tried to trade the Cham didn't suggested it. But now that I know, it's much simpler and secure than I initially understood, I will gladly stick to mediation.
Thanks for the insights and explanations! Cheers to y'all

Theres also the 2/3 rule which determines who receives first:
1. Join Date
2. Post Count
3. FG

Person that has the higher count for 2/3 of those categories usually receives first and then pays/gives item. But ofc double check their post history etc.

Was in the same point as you, I'm not long around here neither.

I recommend you start with selling low value stuff like gems, runes like ral, hel etc. to get yourself familiar.
People wouldn't mind trade low items with you with no rep.

Any reputable trader wouldn't go first anyway so they won't be conserned about scamming.

Also, don't trade outside of forum thru discord etc. most scams happen that way

happy trading

Make sure that the person says their forum name in-game and that they match. Read the rules. It's best to record larger trades (obs). Also type /who so you can see the account name. Good luck!
