The mule method was only recently suggested but there are some victims who may have gotten done this way.

I was skeptical myself so I asked blizzard directly. They confirmed that CD-Keys are the be all, end all ultimate "proof" that you own all associated accounts. When I suggested they not do this, they basically said:

"It's a 20+ year old game quit stressin' lol"

So there you have it.

I mean this entire website and any trade that goes down on it breaks almost every games ToS, of course they arent going to give a shit cause there is no repercussions lol.

Hacker(s) have gained access to a hacked Blizzard database where passwords were stored.

Your advice: add/edit authenticating data and passwords onto a bunch more Blizzard databases.

Also, you tell us Blizzard databases are hacked constantly and Blizzard doesn't report it.

As replied elsewhere:

Isnt it likely that blizzard support will, when x person (thief) says "i have access to *account_name1 account (trademule acc created by victim for scammer), it should be created by the same cdkey as my account Im trying to recover *account_name2 (the victim(s) main account(s))", ask x to confirm the cdkey OR show that it's in X's blizz account for confirmation?

Its the simplest thing for blizz. But yeah theyre dumb.

If enough people open tickets to blizzard to complain about this, they may change their policy.

Blizzard DID change the double reg method after all. And although Blizzard dismissed my communications as "It's a 20+ year old game", if enough people report that CD-Keys are being used for identity fraud, they may change.

2 people from my Guild has been hacked, Europe Realm (1 of them got hacked today)

they somehow manage to Reset / Change his password

US Diablo II General Discussion: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/blizzard/c/diablo-ii-general-discussion/48

if they manage to force reset password then nobody is safe.

if it's bruteforce , a strongpassword should be enough but, still no idea what method are being used , some say they breach Blizzard database completely and can Force Reset from within
