try deleting the old hotkeys settings saved here

" C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\Diablo II."

delete that specific battlenet character hotkeys files along with the other file for that char then try to login back and move

Not sure if its going to help

id offer to try and jiggle it loose for you. have you had anyone try packet dropping it?
would of course require access to your char in game and use of unmentionable (on these forums) third party tools
can understand if you would not trust me, random jsp forum guy, with your pixels

tried packets for drop to no avail. i suspect you need to be interacted with stash/cube somehow first. tried that too but not sure that it works with item on cursor
im no master but maybe someone who know more about item buffer/interactions can do something about it

Try submitting the item for imbue, it should drop if it's not valid or if the quest isn't available.

tried but didnt work either. quest is open (find the malus) if that makes any difference

i did manage to remove the item client side but doesnt persist after save & exit and other interactions still dont seem to work

Okay maybe the char is in some kind of busy state, like the trade. I think I recall the end of cinematics removing any of those flags, have you tried using warriv? 0x38 to a2 town area id

Shot in the dark tbh, I've never seen this persist across games

Can you drop any more items after you remove it client side?
