Argentina are still among the top contenders, regardless of today's blunder. Keep in mind Spain lost their opener before winning it in 2010, Italy drew their 3 group stage games before winning it in 1982, etc...

At the end of the day, these tournaments are usually won by teams that go in crescendo.

La albiceleste has improved massively under Scaloni. Their squad isn't amazin if you just take a look at their players, but they've been very solid over the plast 4 years. I expect them to get back from this, and achieve a top 4 finish.

But of course I could be way off, and they could be this tournament's huge failure... there's often one top contender that's out in the first round, so who knows.

But in all seriousness, I think Brazil will comfortably win the tournament. The only other real contenders are France, who have some costly injuries, Argentina who are pretty good but had a worrying performance, and England, whose manager struggles with tactics in big games and resorts to parking the bus

some surprising results today, to say the least. obviously saudi arabia beating argentina (who were 3rd on my list of title favourites behind brazil and france) is a massive upset, but i also expected denmark to win against tunisia tbh. germany's match tomorrow will be the first actual game i'll be watching during this joke of a world cup. no real bangers on matchday 1 tbf.
