absolutely disgusting how bad racism is amongst many english football fans. massive abuse against the players who missed their penalties:

shocking behaviour. has it always been that bad, and is it just social media that makes it more visible to the public? has the thinly veiled xenophobic rhetoric around brexit worsened and emboldened the bigot scum, or what might be the reason for this being such a huge issue, from booing your own team for kneeling to racially abusing players for missed penalties?

just to inb4 the butthurt reactions, personal attacks, and whataboutisms of our english crowd: i'm not saying every single englishman who loves football is a racist, of course not. that said, it obviously isn't just a few bad apples either, but a systemic issue that at least seems to have gotten worse recently, and i'm curious what you think the cause is.
