i really dont mind the decision yesterday, but then you cant call this one today
i remember the announcement before the season that protecting yourself from a fall would NOT result in a handball penalty
but it has been called in the leagues, cl and now wc as well
yikes refs
honestly, at this point i don't even care WHICH rule they settle on - as long as they apply it consistently.
to be clear, bisquits on sunday did not look like he handed the ball deliberately, but still, his arm was away from his body, which increased his chance of blocking the ball - and we have seen countless penalties given for that lately. most certainly it's worse than just trying to catch your fall, with your hands behind / under your body, which is something that was not supposed to be punished, as you correctly pointed out. but for some reason the former is not even checked, while the latter results in a pen?
it's just absurd at this point, refs and VAR can literally do what they want - whatever they feel like can be justified somehow...
