he's saying that ballon d'or nominations is probably a shitty criterion to compare leagues, especially if you are an actual fan of the sport and know a thing or two about financial restrictions in the different leagues - because that pretty much explains (at least to reasonably intelligent people) why top (earning) players generally don't play in germany (with some exceptions in bayern)...

and while the premier league has finally managed to overtake the bundesliga in the five year ranking, it's still miles behind spain - and concerning the 'money spent / success ratio' the real joke of world football...
