disappointing performance. germany had plenty of possession, plenty of chances to put this game out of reach, but failed to do so. yes, they hit the woodwork twice, which is ofc unlucky, but overall it just seems like we didn't have the quality to score.
what i don't understand: why field havertz as striker? he's too slow and, despite his height, not physical enough for that position. why pick the incredibly error-prone schlotterbeck over ginter? why take take off germany's best player, the one guy who can make something special happen, when the score is 1:1? so many weird decisions, it almost reminds me of löw (i know it's not, because draxler isn't in the team, but still).
meanwhile the japanese coach risked it all when he had to, made several good substitutions, and was rewarded. well played, japan.
