If the owner promises to spend at the cap then it might make them see hope here. I don't believe a word Melnyk says though

When I first heard I just assumed it was an attempt to get the arena built by ensuring that potential investors or city council knows he's willing to spend when the team is "good". I personally think Melnyk is a cheap and manipulative POS so I don't really believe him. Forcing Karl out was very clearly the start of a rebuild, that wouldn't have necessarily been needed if he opened his wallet to keep him. He just wants to get that arena up and will say anything he needs to in order to get it built, whether he spends to the cap after that is anyones guess. His end game might even be to sell the Senators a year or two after the arena is done because the teams value will go way up with a new downtown arena.

also wanted to mention that he now actually went on the record and gave us a timeline, sure he made little comments before but now he hosted and said this at a meeting, and if he doesn't follow through on his promise he is done 100%.

He is counting on having the new arena before the end of this, it will fail if we do not get an arena

Still can't believe it when he decided to take it upon himself to bitch and moan about fans not going to the games despite a strong playoff run years ago.

Way to alienate the fan base further...... You just have to hate the guy as a human being. It is obvious he only cares for himself.

Remove Stone, Duchene, and Dzingel from this lineup and we are FUCKED. We're already fucking bad, but on the upside at least we can score, but if you take out those 3 then you can kiss goodbye to our scoring and are setting us back another 5 years
