Canucks desperately need a top-line winger and Guentzel fits the mould but it would definitely need to come with an extension, even if that raises the cost.
Tanev is definitely going to cost a 1st, but he's a perfect fit for what we need. Him and Soucy could make quite the quality defensive pair which leaves Zadorov and Cole to combine for a very strong 3rd pairing.
The combined cost of the two players would be our next two firsts + Hoglander/Podkolzin (whichever one the Pens value more) + one of our better prospects that isn't Lek or Wil + the 3rd round pick or whatever we get for Myers.
Hard to gauge what Guentzel would cost. He has an NTC and he's headed to UFA for a big payday but he'll be in very high demand. Dubas is also under pressure to make the playoffs so unless the Pens are way out of a spot at the deadline he won't make a move. So I wouldn't count on him either being available or us being able to afford what another team might pay.
In terms of rental wingers, Hartman might be an interesting choice with the Wild looking mild. He's the kind of player that makes room for others with his shitbag play, while being good at cashing in pucks in close. If he actually wants to waive his NMC to Van he'd probably be cheap since he'll almost certainly re-sign with Minnesota in the offseason. Not ideal because he doesn't have the skill level we'd want and you wonder if his personality would be an issue with Tocchet, but could be our best shot.
My pipedream is that Allvin takes advantage of the chaos in Ottawa and finds a way to nab Batherson. For him you make everyone available, including Lek and Willander.
For the blueline we'll probably be trying to overpay for Tanev. Fabbro would actually be my target but he's still an RFA, highly unlikely the Preds would trade him even if they decide to sell and Fabbro wants to come home.
