Did not see the game.

Looked like that was a scenario where Calgary dressed mostly NHL players against our AHL guys and those who will be cut from the team.

I am sure that 10-0 beating was great for morale though haha.

Seems like McWard is the favourite to play with Hughes.

Julsen looked good with Hughes last season, but he was awful the past few games. He's most likely ahl bound. McWard on the other hand has been surprisingly delivering. Soucy does not look good on his off hand RHD. He's most likely playing 3rd pairing and will be the next myers on the lhd lmao. Thank fuck Cole and Hronek found chemistry right away, and they're solid. Looks like a legit top 4 pairing, which is huge for the Canucks.

Hughes - McWard
Cole - Hronek
Soucy - myers
Wolainin

Martin got claimed by CBJ, so that opens up another contract spot. When bear is fully healthy, I wonder if he will sign with the Canucks since their RHD depth is still questionable.

It sucks soucy did not work out in this short time, I hope he does eventually and it's just an adjustment thing. Otherwise he will definitely be the next scapegoat after myers leave. I also would've 100% preferred hirose. That dude gives me tanev vibes, so fucking calm and chill.

Podkolzin sadly didn't impress at all, he's thinking way too much. Slow and confused. Which sucks cuz he seemed to have worked his ass off whole summer, expected huge things from him. I think he needs to spend some time in the AHL and polish it up like Hoglander did. He had too many coaches in short amount of time, I think it would benefit him to spend a full season in the A for his development.

Aman looks even faster and basically up to Tochetts expectations. Apparently he was the 3rd most fit Canuck. He's most likely a lock, shifting to the wing on the 4th line.

Raty actually looked like he improved his skating. I hope it gets even better and he's another horvat situation for his skating. Then he's a lock to be a 3c np if not higher as he develops more. He already has the faceoffs down, hockey iq, shot and pass etc. His skating was severely holding him back, but he at least doesn't look like a slug like last season.

Mikheyev(hogs) - Petey - kuz
Pdg - Miller - boeser
Beau - Suter - Garland
Aman - blueger - Joshua/studnika

Podz is by far the biggest disappointment. If he can't think the game fast enough at this rate then he just doesn't have it. Even highly talented guys don't stick around for long with low hockey IQ. We all know how much of a shitshow Myers is but he's a physical presence who for most of his career had good skating and hands for his size - yet because he can't think the game at NHL speed most nights he collapses under pressure every time. Someone with a grinder skillset can't get away with that, there's like a dozen players coaches can fill Podz' spot with and they'd probably do a better job at being at the right place at the right time.

Beauvillier-Pettersson-Kuzmenko
Di Giuseppe-Miller-Boeser
Höglander-Suter-Garland
Åman-Blueger-Studnicka

Hughes-McWard
Cole-Hronek
Soucy-Myers
Desmith

Lines for tonight, pretty close to a full roster for once.
I'm just happy Cole and Hronek found chemistry fast, and they're just solid. Finally a non ahl d pair? Still a lot of work to do, but it's nice to know that there's another d pair other than Hughes solo carrying all the time

They love pdg on their line too
Tocchet loves his style of play for his system as well
He's a lock to make the team.

Large group of players sent down.

Podz being the most notable.

Thought they would have kept some of the guys around for longer to try them out but I guess the goal is to have a starting lineup ready to go sooner than later.

Really hoping Podz does not turn out to be a bust.

Was so high on him during WJC. strong, drove the net, solid shot, good forecheck, aggravated the opposition.

See what he can do with lots of playing time in Abbotsford.

Abby team actually looks decent. We have some forwards to draw on in case of short term injuries. Defense still scares the hell out of me.

So petterssons faceoffs % has been floating around 40%. It seems like he worked on that over the summer, as he significantly improved on it. Small sample size, but he won at 70% during the pre season games. What's interesting is that when Miller faced off with him in camp, he was in brief shock after he lost cleanly to him haha. There's apparently something he does in the circle to win faceoffs. I wonder if it's a simple trick that would get him wins but be less effective overtime when the surprise is gone. Or if it's just legit skill he mastered and will continue to sustain. This kid is unreal, finds a weakness he wanna improve on and basically overcomes it the next off season.
