So we are actively shopping Phaneuf now. While I agree with the attempted trade that's happening, I am also conflicted.

It just feels so wrong, as an Ottawa fan I do realize that it has been tough at times to attract certain players to come play here. Now here we have a player, who has publicly stated that he WANTS to be here, and has exercised his right to do so, and for his loyalty he is met with a mad scramble to push him out of the door.

On the other hand of this dilemma, losing Methot or Ceci would be a pretty significant loss and leave us with a pretty large hole to fill. And even if we do manage to trade Phaneuf, we will then likely lose Claesson to Vegas, and he is a young defenseman who looks like he can grow into a very good top-4 for a long time. There is no winning situation here, just trying to mitigate our losses I guess

I'm just going to bury my head in the sand and hope for the best
