Elliotte said Canucks were gauging the market for their players at the scouting combine and they disappointed by the feedback they received.
:rofl:
that's hilarious, idk how that is a surprise for benning & co??? they seem to trade their players a season or 2 too late when their trade value sinks lower.
[Dhaliwal]: Canucks are busy working phones on the trade market. They checked in on the price for Toronto defenseman Nikita Zaitsev who is getting lots of interest.
#Canucks interest is high in Zaitsev but do they have what Toronto would take back. Could a deal happen yes it’s possible but not there yet.
Canucks were interested in Johansson;
canucks might actually end up being worse than last season depending on how the off season goes and if edler even comes back (currently at an impasse)
It would be totally fine to pay him good for 2 years and then evaluate from there. If you give him 3 years his contract will be on the books when you need to get hughes/Pettersen resigned.
Learn from the mistakes of other teams who screwed themselves.... If he is as loyal as he says he is he will take 2 years and understand the situation. If not let some other team take him for 3+ years and live to regret it.
He is 33 and his best hockey is behind him. We could use him for another 1-2 years as a stop gap but he is irrelevant after that and does not fit in.
Broberg is projected to go at #10 and has size and speed. His offensive game needs work but if the framework is there he could become a great addition.
Byram will almost certainly be gone so Broberg would be the greatest chance at replacing Edler. He is also Swedish lol
If the Canucks don't think they can draft a player who will make significant impact in 2-3 years I would not be against packaging the pick to get either a top 6 forward with size/skill or a top 4 defender who is young.
