Quite the opposite. To steal a game any idiot can do it occasionally. To steal a series you need a possessed Giguere or Thomas, doesn’t happen much.

Besides, counting on a goalie to make ~47 saves every single game for the next 3 months while you rely on one line to score sounds exactly like the tire fire in northern Alberta doesn’t it...

Curious as to why Peters put Neal out over lindholm/Johnny? Does he have some amazing shootout record I am unaware of?

Honestly it’s because we don’t have any shootout practice at all this year. I had no clue who he would put out. I think this was shootout 2 on the year? Peters puts the lines in a blender in the 3rd period and plays whoever has had the best game, and my guess is it’s because Neal was really pushing hard after he got all his teeth knocked out.

Ah gotcha. Green seems to do that every single game no matter the outcome

well to be fair, lolnucks been beating lolflames cos shit goalie & petey
other than the recent game, lolnucks averaged like ~35shots for markstrom to save
whereas smith, rittich are below .900% and they only had to make 20-25 saves.

Was listening to the game on the Radio while driving and the color guy (forgot his name) called exactly how each Flames player would approach their shootout attempt.

If a color guy has it all pegged, you have to believe the reason Markstrom stopped all the shots was because it was too obvious.

IIRC a lot of the Flames who shot had rather poor shootout percentages, so I would argue as to why certain players shot as well.

Shootouts are becoming less important now, which I like. If I had it my way there would be no shootouts. Instead there would be 4v4 for 5 mins, followed by 3v3 for 5 minutes. If neither team can win they just get a point.

Getting an extra points for 'winning' in a shootout is a joke imo.

it's what happens when you force an undersized teen that is 4th in goalie depth to play against one of the top teams
seemed like he got better as the game went on though

i dont blame benning for this situation, they planned markstrom to play but he tweaked something in practice and felt stiff. So it was like a last minute thing, and had no choice but to play DP. He had a month to find another goalie after Mckeena got claimed off waivers, but he couldn't have expected demko to be out with concussion as well. Plus the fans didnt want him to trade picks away, especially for a temporary backup. It shows how MVP Markstrom is to this team, without him, it's a blowout every game. Instead, we win games or lose by 1 goal
