Same story lately, having a lot of trouble burying chances. Boeser had a boatload of prime opportunities and he couldn't finish. Pettersson with a clear break in OT which you'd think is a guaranteed goal but even he can't do it lol.
Gudbranson continues to be a liability, even Tanev looks bad beside him (although Tanev in a vacuum was not good, extremely rare for him to get beat so cleanly like he did on the winner).
Stecher and Hutton look great so far filling in as the top pair.
To be fair I would say there was a bit of puck luck on that play.
Yes he got beat, but the puck ended up in the perfect spot for Toews to scoop it up.
He did not have the control to place it so accurately, it was more of a slam it through and try to jam it in type play vs a silky deke that went off without a hitch.
That being said he still got beat, just not as cleanly as it looked.
With Edler out the parings are jumbled up and it is showing.
Really wanted Petey to get the OT winner after Markstrom made that nice chip pass. Have to say he has been playing quite well lately, despite not getting the wins.
Overall I thought the Canucks brought good energy and had the scoring chances, just could not bury enough of them, as others have said.
One thing I hate to see is retaliation penalties. A lack of discipline is an ugly sight. The penalty Sutter took was unnecessary and it changed the course of the game. I hope he gets an earful for that selfish play. Have to stay composed out there even if you feel you are wronged.
