The fact this Flyers roster is somehow over the cap is truly mind-boggling.

looking at the roster on capfriendly we are going to be running it pretty tight
were 23/23 atm and 2.5mish over the cap but they have fedotov 925k its more likely we see sandstrom 775k and thats +150k cap
we can send down 3 guys i assume attard 883k+seeler 775k+patrick 750k maybe mackewen 925k
thats like JUST enough and were running like minimum players and still have to sign allison hogberg and hodgeson which are RFA we could likely do once ellis is on LTIR

kinda brings me back to why the fuck did we give deslauries 1.7 for 4 years :wallbash: with out him we could probably carry 1 spare player on the roster for injuries

Is Ellis starting on LTIR? There's your cap, but eventually when he comes back theyll have to figure it out lol. Flyers have alot of rough contracts atm

yeah most likely i dont think we bring in deangelo if ellis is playing the main reason we sucked last season was ellis out and nobody to fill that hole on the 1st pair

but yeah once hes on LTIR we got the space to sign lots of guys but if we didnt sign deslaurier we wouldnt be in this situation in the first place
maybe if we make the playoffs we can pull a tampa take him off IR and have a stacked defense but thats a pretty big maybe :D

You're telling me that an undersized, 31 year old Ryan Ellis was the main difference between Philly being good and being bottom tier?

one of them yeah injuries in general were pretty bad but defensively provorov paired with braun for 90% of the season and playing yandle because of his streak gave us 2 pretty bad d pairs
plus our PP was one of the worst in the league probably due to how predictable it was but with giroux gone and new coaching staff i expect to improve on that 12.6%

why do you think fletcher went and got deangelo instead of paying to dump jvr and offer gaudreau? the issue was defense yeah the offense didnt have amazing numbers either but its hard to score when you spend half the game in your zone

yeah the team sucked last season i watched like 70 games i know what the issue was its was obvious

Yes the defense was the issue but "Ryan Ellis out" was not the main reason. That roster is flawed lots of holes to fill, they weren't a Ryan Ellis away from not sucking

what holes need to be filled then? what are they away from not sucking?

the team wasnt that far off from the 19-20 flyers roster the biggest difference was niskanen retiring out of the blue leaving a big hole which ellis was brought in to fill recreating the same hole which deangelo is now brought in to fill
yeah its one of the main reasons thats why they have been trying to plug that hole since niskanen retired its not rocket science

Training camp, which opens on Sept. 21, has been planned since the week he was hired.

"I got my old camps from Columbus, and just kind of sat in my office there when I got the job and I wanted to get everything organized right away," he said. "And now we're just fine-tuning that.

"I'm asking my players to have a readiness, I need to have a readiness, too."

"I'm not convincing them. I'm going to tell them what we're looking for. We're going to push to that level, and if some guys aren't willing to get there, or maybe there's some stubbornness about getting there, we'll look to someone else. We'll look to kids if it's the older guys

"I'm going in there, and I think it should be a really, really good thing for the players to know that it's a blank sheet. I'm not going to look at salary, I'm not going to look at draft pick, I'm not going to look at how many years you've played, I'm going to look at how you play"

"I've heard the comments. We make our own bed. When you're a 61-point team (25-46-11 last season) in the National Hockey League, you've got to understand you've got to eat some of this stuff here. But in my mind, as I hear it, and I hear it again and I hear it again, and I'll hear it many more times when the season starts, I know what it does for me as far as the fuel for me. More importantly, it's the players. ... If you keep on hearing that, and you're putting that [jersey] on and they're talking about you and your organization, if that doesn't give you a little bit of extra [fuel], then you're not going to be on the bus. Because it'll eventually show in camp."

"the thing I love about Tony is I may have to tame him at certain times, but I'd much rather have a player that has that intensity and that will that he shows and the competitiveness that he shows. He'll do some stupid stuff, and he's going to say some stupid stuff, but we'll work through it together."

man i cant help but think torts is going to really turn around some players last season with AV you could see guys half assing it and not giving a fuck torts wont be having any of that
he also says he sees deangelo as a top pair d man so its most likely going to be provy-deangelo sanheim-risto york-braun to start the season which is kind of expected

this team has lacked "jam" as atkinson said in the end of season presser and torts should be a guy that can bring that back to this team

Philadelphia Flyers@NHLFlyers
OFFICIAL: We have signed forward Wade Allison to a two-year, two-way/one-way contract with an AAV of $785,000.

We have also signed defenseman Linus Högberg to a one-year, two-way contract with an AAV of $750,000.

hoping to see allison on the roster from he start hes a big energy guy with some skill and i think he would do well under torts and be the knid of guy torts likes
last season he got hurt right before camp iirc and then he ended up in the ahl for most of the season when he got back but he was playing good idk why they didnt call him up sooner

Flyers gotta be the worst drafting team in the past five years. Keep reaching for busts. Used to be so good in the first round, what happened?
