Russian stock will probably drop heavily due to the Fedotov situation.

Best time to take advantage of this and draft all high ranked Russians that falls. Afiak if they're indigenous sakha, they're fine

Would still be surprised if they drafted him with a center available.

Sure looks like Slaf has more talent though.

thats seems to be whats making this draft kind of interesting

do you take wright who is pretty much a sure thing or take one of the others that seem to have higher potential but can also bust

if they really take slaf,

idk if njd will even take wright because their center depth is already hughes, hischier.. unless they'll keep wright at 3c.
maybe they'll surprise everyone with a nemec/jiricek since RHD are so scarce these days

I think MTL will end up taking Wright, we always get this kind of talk before the draft and the guy who is supposed to go 1 always goes 1.

The last "surprise" was like CBJ taking Dubois over Pulju and that was like 5 years ago and in the 3/4 spots.

I think if Wright falls then maybe we see the Debrincat for #2 trade after all.

Although it also wouldn't surprise me if NJD takes Wright to be their 3C for a few years and then perhaps trades him or Hischier down the road. Wright probably isn't even a slam dunk to make the NHL roster right away despite his mature playstyle.

The last "surprise" was hischier, Patrick was pretty much #1. Even longer than wright has been. I think the reason teams will take wright is cuz they know he's a safe pick. High floor, low ceiling. So like 3c/4c at the worst, not a bust. Whereas slaf is bust or jagr wannabe

I'm so glad the avs still took MacK in 2013 even tho they had considerable stacked C depth in Statsny Duchene O'Reilly. There was alot of chatter around Seth Jones going 1st overall for that reason. Their defense was horrible at the time and didnt have much in the system. Albeit a little bit different scenario

Cuz sakic is a fucking god.

I'm pretty sure sakic didn't believe in Duchene and statsny to be his core to win with, thus he picked Mackinnon and traded Duchene high and made everyone thinks he's a noob gm doing noob things
