Right. This is all England courts too. That any different than here in Canada I wonder. Hope he has a good defense. And at the same time. If there's negligence on his part I hope Johnsons family finds justice.
British law is pretty much the same, I have a few friends who skipped out on undergrads and studied in UK (can study law straight out of high school)
You just write an equivalency exam to practice in Canada.
Unless they’re is substantial incriminating evidence, text messages / social media messages suggesting acts of violence specifically towards Johnson, or prior intention of “killing or injuring someone” with a skate blade… OR the defence lawyer sucks, or crown prosecutor is deadly, extremely deadly, etc.
I could never see this sticking, in Canada at least. British law idk they’re a lot less violent than we are as a society (North America), our case law is probably more watered down.
I’ll ask some defence lawyers tomorrow if they see any merit, but I’ve seen people do much much much worse, with insane prior criminal record entries walk away with less, almost if not once a month.
But insane to think this was done on purpose, let alone intent to kill/severe injure. Maybe intent to slow and disrupt Johnson down? But that’s a stretch especially to link to manslaughter.
I think this if anything is a PR stunt or.. the family themselves are pressing charges not realizing what kind of case they have, and doing it out of principal.
