Just when I consider investing in the energy sector out comes new that Biden is going to make continuing to block the Keystone pipeline a 1st day priority.

I was heavily considering investing in TC Energy and Enbridge. Now I am just going to avoid investing in the sector directly altogether. I guess it is time to look for an alternative dividend investment.

Terrible news for Alberta. Trudeau does not have the stones to challenge America on anything and that dipshit spent 5 billion on a pipeline already.

I guess that money is just straight down the drain... Who cares about the taxpayers. The budget will balance itself....

In the end maybe it will be for the best. We do need to find better alternatives. I just hate the way it is being done. We still rely on foreign entities to provide us with resources we have an abundance of....

Biden said he was anti energy sector like a month or 2 before election

after backlash, he said he misspoke and people believed him lol

I think its mostly built on the Canadian side. Edmonton work has been ongoing for awhile around the ring road.

I am surprised he actually made it a priority though. Usually it is just empty talk to get votes.

Realistically it is a hollow environmental victory in my opinion. Personally I think the real reason is to stifle competition.

I would imagine there is not much desire for a Canadian company to increase market share in the United States.

Obviously I don't want to trash the earth but damn people need jobs and oil is not going away anytime soon.

Furthermore I want Canada to be less dependent on foreign entities.

Invested in Alogquin Power and Utilities instead. They have a greater focus on 'green' initiatives. That is what is in style right now so I will join in even if it is a bit overvalued right now.

In time I think it will be a winner.

I wish we had someone in power with stones.

Maybe we should pull the plug on the electricity and water we send down south lol.

Oil drillers don't oppose refiners or distributors in a political sense and lobby in the same team - many are vertically integrated anyways. After the failure of shutting down Dakota Access despite the Standing Rock protests, Keystone became the next plausible target for US environmentalists.

Most of my $ is currently on technology portfolios. Over a long time window they will top most % return lists but you may not like some of the short-term swings.

I think you are right.

My best investment to date was dumping some cash into a nasdaq etf four or five years ago.

Nothing else I have invested in has come close to matching those gains.

I do like dividend investing for a steady flow of income or drip though, which is nice to continually reinvest.
