Laine started the season playing great too, and Dubois has been a terrible teammate

Poor kid? He wanted out of Winnipeg, he got it. He wants to prove he's not a one dimensional scoring winger who's a detriment to his team when he isnt scoring. What better way to do so than to excel in torts system?

If he can back it up, this could get him the massive payday he thinks he's worth.

Dubois and Laine are about equal. Id rather have PLD due to contract, but a 2nd line center is worth a first line winger imo.

Roslovic for a 3rd I guess is alright? I dont know much about him; never impressed me

roslovic is still 23 and laine is the same age as dubois
dubois will play physical and be a good center of 50-60 points per season (maybe 70 points per season in his prime)

while Laine is still a guy who score 30-40 per years and got more complete last season
roslovic will probably do 30-40 points per season in his prime and will be a solid 3rd line center

which is why i would have expected a better pick with dubois for those 2

Yea I think a 2nd instead of 3rd wouldve been more fair.

But I think when you look at contracts and arb rights, this trade is closer to fair than ppl realize

Laine has a tall order ahead of him.

A player known as a slacker and one dimensional player is going to have to take on Torts and his high demands.

If he dogs a few shifts it will be curtains for him.

yeah and somebody made me realise that dubois will go play with connor, wheeler, ehlers and perfetti (in 1-2 years for perfetti)
he will have way better numbers than his current ones and will bring the intensity that laine didnt bring on this team

i didnt remember that dubois had nyquist, atkinson, bjorstrand for wingers at clb and he still managed to produce over 50 points per season in torts system
