ok, glad we're on the same page here
ACH > NHL
and thats where you are wrong.
there are SO many more factors to consider...
strength of defense playing in front of the goalie - Carolina is much better than the defense of the team he played on in the ACH
number of shots faced + quality of shots faced - in his one half game, he only faced 10 NHL shots. i cannot find information that deep on the ACH, but we'll say 25 on average over 8 games is 200 shots.
strength of opposing teams forwards - Toronto is obviously better
So, over 8 games he faced 190 more shots than he did at the NHL level, at the NHL level through his one half game with an elite defense his save percentage is only 3% better than it was facing somewhere around 200 much lesser quality shots in another league.
If Ayers played 7.5 more games, his save percentage would be absolutely abysmal at the NHL level facing much higher quality opposition.
You cannot compare such a small sample size of one half game with 8 separate games using only a percentage. One game is much different than 8 total games, and he didnt even play one full game, he couldve let in 2 or 3 more goals if he played the entire game and then we wouldnt even be here right now.
You do not understand the dynamics of the sport.
Imagine looking at one stat that is literally so rare that its only happened once in the 100 year history of the league and thinking you know how shit works.
